Default Need a fence for the yard - Tampa Area

So I am getting quotes for a fence at the house. Looks like I need 300 ft of PVC and 160 ft of black chainlink. I need three gates as well. I was surprised by the quote, grand total of $11,535. They charge 16 per ft for the black chainlink and 25 per ft for the PVC. The PVC brand they are selling is made by ActiveYards. The gates are $425 each. Is this the running price? It seemed pretty high but I haven't shopped for fencing before.

I paid around $4800 for PVC last year for around 185 LF plus 3 gates, so your number sounds close.

In the northeast that price is actually a little low.

Holy crap. Any thought on how I can get the total lower?

Consider hiring a handyman to do the work, buying the material yourself. And remember that you have to have your survey and get a permit or the code Nazis will get you.

I can't help on price but get the PVC that has a lot of structure inside each plank. If you look at a cross section of say a HD one and a commercial one you can really notice the difference. Good installation is also important especially around gates. Drive around and look at older ones and see how many sag.

Who have you gotten quotes from?

Are you talking about 6' tall privacy fence PVC or 3' tall decorative picket PVC?

Around here (other side of FL) the going rate is $22-25 a foot for 6' tall wood shadowbox with posts every 4', my impression was that the 6' PVC was a good bit more expensive and not a lot more durable.

You don't need a permit for fence installation on a single-family residential property in St. Petersburg.

Yeah, buy the PVC stuff for 3X price of wood. Never paint it again says my wife, no maintenance she says.....
Really? say I
So when the wind blows it down (and we know it will) how much will it cost then? I intend to keep replacing wood boards, got about 40 already painted

WOW!! Something in Florida you don’t need a permit for. I’m shocked.

My wood fence is over 10 years old and will probably go wood again when I replace it, because it is way cheaper.

Wood was not much cheaper. This is 6ft tall privacy fence. I also found a ‘no dig’ option called Whambam Fence. Seems like a good product and i would do install myself. I have requested a quote so will let you know more when I know more.

Try Marc with Fence Services of FL (813) 326-7426. Solid guy who provided quality materials for a good price. I have referred him to 3 others and all have used him.

After Irma came through there were lots of wood fences stacked on the swale. No pvc ones.
