Default Hello all, old boater returning to boating life but bigger this time

Heya everyone!
Grew up boating since my single digit years in the 60's...got boating license at age 12, and had my own boats since then. My boats were always older ski boats/runabouts...mostly in the 18 foot range with an outboard, a few older Baja outboard SS models, Checkmate, Glastrons, Cane Cutter, stuff like that.

Also in my 20's spent quite a bit of time on an antique 1935 vintage Park Hearts 45 footer.

And sailing
Most of my boating done in what's called "Fishers Island Sound"...an area in the south east corner of Connecticut, with quite a few runs out to Block Island.

...and we're currently gaining experience with mid west coast Florida as my wife and I spent more and more time down there.

Anyways, through various reboots of my life, the past 8 or so years have been boatless and I've wanted to get a boat my wife and I can do weekend trips on, and return to the boating community/marina life of summer evenings on the docks with new found friends in that community.

We're currently on the hunt for something in the upper 20's to low 30's feet length wise, ample room for myself to lay down (I'm 6'5"), (and stand when down under), ....used boat budget. Been looking at some 80's and 90's Sea Rays and Maxums and various others. Doing my homework on types of drives (I/O vs V-drive inboard vs straight inboard). Yeah I'm in salt water, although some marinas that we're considering are up in rivers like the Connecticut River so that's like 3/4 fresh/brackish.

If someone can point to which sub forum is best for asking various questions about "what do do/look for/ask when buying a used boat in the ~30 foot range, express cruise or mid cabin style...I'd appreciate it. In the meanwhile...I'll start scouring the forums for various info!

Hope to get to know you all!

DO NOT mention blowboating again. Good luck in finding your boat. Survey, survey, survey.
