Default Craigslist scams

Are they even trying anymore? I'd say at least half the boats on there are scams.

They run several angles. One of them is they have someone else coming to look at the boat, but they will hold it for you for a deposit made in advance and online. Or they are military and over seas and can't meet you and they will hand over all the paper work and willing to sell it to you right now for half of what they are asking. Or they need you to go to a web site and sign up to you can make your purchase or deposit. Or they will have all the paper work ready when you get there and they need all of your private information.

I can say I don't feel much sympathy for their victims . Honestly , how stupid do you have to be to fall prey ?

I almost fell for one of their scams. Would like five minutes alone in a room with those jerks.

I would not call it a scam as much as a false price. It is either to get the listing to show when someone searches with a price limit like "show me boats for <$10K" or maybe the down payment. This way the listing appears in more searches. Same thing happens with cars/trucks. You search for a car and find one with a very low price. Turns out the price listed is either the down payment or the monthly payment, not the full price.

Why do they think the trailer tire size is important enough to put in the heading of a boat ad...?!
