No, it busted the base and was leaning to the side. Oh and 6" of the tip is gone.

Bad thing is as I was approaching Sebastian inlet I thought to myself " crap I need to lower the antenna, na I don't want to stop now

At least you must not have had rods across the back to go along with the antenna.... some of us only learn lessons the hard way, but it usually sticks when we do!

I broke off 4 tips and lost an expensive net going through the tunnel. I left them in the rocket launchers on accident . That was a expensive trip.

I’ve toasted at least 3 over the years.
Im actually familiar with that sickening sound of it whacking trees etc. at 45+ mph.
by the time you hear it, it’s too late.

Probably the route I'm going to take, this was a 250$ digital marine antenna, Damn!

Been there, done that. Almost did it again trying to go under a bridge I had no business going under. Luckily, the ratchet mechanism wasn’t tight and it just came down. Did get some sweet creosote streaks on it, though.
