Default Testosterone supplements? Good? Bad?

Anyone ever tried Nugenix or other Testosterone booster? I'm in my mid 50s and just seem to feel tired all the time. I'm in fairly good shape and eat healthy and just wondering if any supplements might help give me more energy. I had a friend about my age tell me he recently started taking Nugenix and it works great. I definitely don't want to take anything that would have any negative affects.

I went to the Doctor. I am now giving myself a shot once a week. Made a big difference in how I feel. I am very happy I did it.

Gay guys seem to always have energy. Must be the high-T diet.

supplements are a mixed bag, could literally be anything. little to no regulations

I second the doctor, one of the best things I've ever done

I'm 63. I opted to try T-gel (over the counter in Mexico). You rub the gel on (no, NOT down there) after a shower and your skin absorbs it. The change in my mood and energy level was remarkable within just a few days. Kind of an experiment to prove to myself I indeed am having low T issues. Next step is the Men's clinic to investigate T pellets. They will measure where you really are on the T scale and dose accordingly. The pellets are inserted into an area of your abdomen and are time released, lasting 3 or 4 months. The only other real alternative is shots, which sucks, because they have to be muscle injections, not subcutaneous and they have to be taken frequently.

My experience? Forget the pills. Most of them are bunch or herbal crap that supposedly spurs your body to make more testosterone on its own. Tried some, they were worthless. Don't remember what brand.

Low T is a real issue we all face as we age. Get professional treatment.

Go to your doctor and have a simple blood test done to check your T level. Low energy could be a multitude of things. You don't want to just start taking pills and risk growing man boobs (or maybe you do...I'm not judging).

you have to be careful with the gel because it can be transferred to women. I was giving myself a shot in the upper leg once a week....that got old, I switched to my butt and taught my wife to do it. no issues at all

when I price pelts it was about 10 grand a year, insurance will cover it, until the won't. shots are a much better option for me

Exercise has helped me. I will be 48 this year and started exercising in the evenings after work. 30 min of cardio on the elliptical and 30 min in the weight room. Nothing crazy hard either.

once you start testosterone your body stops making it, so its a long term commitment

my attitude did a 180 after starting, haven't really noticed as much of a change in any of the other things it suppose to help with

So THAT is why my wife started looking like this!

(True fact on the gel, however the LoTyiel gel is alcohol based and evaporates within a minute. No greasy residue or anything to rub off on the wife. I suppose you could sweat it out during, uhhhh, a good "exercise" romp.)

When you get tested for t levels ask your doc about his opinion of the effects on psa and prostate issues. Family practice docs seem sort of split opinion on the combination. One issue is the t clinics are not really regulated or certified by any accreditation body. They do however make good bank for the doctor. Caveat emptor.

As mentioned, go to the doc and get a testosterone level test......(do it in the am ). If you need a boost the doctor will hook you up if you are a candidate for TRT. My urologist told me that the testosterone via mouth (pills, drinks etc) is worthless as the stomach neutralizes it.

That's the reason why the md's give gel or pellets which are injected under the skin. If you have ever had PC or have high PSA they may not be willing to do it. Good luck.

Bikem,
When you wake up in the morning, do you feel refreshed or still tired? You may wanna get checked for sleep apnea. Big symptom is being tired all the time. Just a thought.

If your testosterone is low, opt for the injections and don't do them in your thigh. It's not pleasant most of the time. Switch to your hip/butt area, the nurse can show you where to inject. I've been on it for 10 yrs now, with about 7 of those being on injections. Life changing is all I have to say.
