Default Wife wants another convertible

Right now she has a 16 tundra crew max 4x4 we no longer need. She had a BMW Z-3 for 6 years she loved. So now what Iím looking at is BMW and Lexus something under 20k under 50k miles 2010 or newer needs to have some sort of backseat for grand kids. What else should I be looking at make and model wise? The Z-3 she had never missed a beat ran great and just had to do regular oil changes thatís why Iím leaning towards another BMW. Lexus built by Toyota is why Iím looking at them .

Can't comment on the Lexus but if you must go BMW, I would avoid the turbo engine if you're looking for trouble-free motoring. I've had them, both gas and diesel. Fun, but not without issues. Can't steer her into a new miata?

Edit: (im referring to the turbo six cylinders, and sorry I overlooked the backseat requirement)

You'll be hard pressed to find that kind of reliability in a newer BMW, but if you did a 2011-2013 328i you'd probably be in pretty good shape if reliability is your biggest concern. Not fast but you've got the backseat covered as long as the grandkids are contortionists.

The 35i are great engines and put out plenty of power but not without their share of common problems. And the common problems will happen very predictably, to the tune of $2k-3k in common repairs by 6 years / 60k miles. I didn't believe it until I went through every one of the common problems in my 135i.

If a smaller car is ok you may be able to squeek by in low $20s with a much newer 228i.

I look at the front of the Lexis and I think about my wife's little front fender benders in her Tahoe and cringe.

We've got a 2011 BMW 328 convertible that is a great car. Never had a problem with it and it is really fun to drive.

The Lexus IS350c would be a good choice. I think the last year they made it was 2015

Weird but roomy for a convertible. Relatively cheap used

Get the Mustang, or a classic Detroit Street Rod, like a 442, GTO, Firebird or Vette

Yeah not seeing much in the Lexus under 20k unless you look at the 250.
