Default Fishhawk cutting off lobster buoy

I was catching up on Wicked Tuna and watched Brad, the captain of FishHawk cut off and toss in his boat a lobster buoy that his tuna was wrapped around! I couldn't believe it!
I couldn't find any reference to it online. Isn't this a major offense or even a federal crime?
Right there on national TV. Idiot..

Although I am not a, "Blue water angler", when I saw that I thought, WTH did he just do? Really!!?? He cut the lobster buoy line and threw the buoy back in!!??
I have seen them get tangled up before but they didn't cut the buoy off.

I didn't notice that one, but I saw Tyler cut one before and quickly tie it back together as Duffy continued the fight.

I heard that, but wondered how they could do that. Assuming they tied a jug to line until they could get back to it?

Most offshore lobster pots are set in strings so there is a ball and a flyer at the beginning and a ball at the end.

I've seen that before. Way out there wouldn't occur to me to be rec pots...
I'll give the part about his saying he'd reattach it another listen. I didn't hear him say that the 1st time I watched it..

I think some of these guys know each other and understand. They probably work together but if some outsider did it that would not go over. There is also the possibility it was done for TV.
