Default Kansas traffic stop/search for "vegetation" on car

It's shameful and sad. Clear violations of civil rights and a ten year career ended.

How did this guy think he'd get away with this???

How do some LEOs not realize that every action they take will be recorded? Are they being educated on video and the cloud?

If a cop asks me to step out of my car, I’m stepping out, no biggie. Again, a chip on the driver’s shoulder and he wants to argue.

As to the silliness of the stop, I’ve seen enough Live PD to see a ton of simple traffic stops that resulted in the apprehension of serious criminals and acts. Maybe that area is prone to drug deals?

Seriously? You think that's all you're going to do? Step out the car? Maybe have a chat with Barney Fife?

No, you're stepping out to get cuffed, arrested, detained downtown, booked and possibly charged. No biggie for a couple of stems on the window huh?

No sympathy whatsoever for the ex-cop.

If you turn up the volume after he was extricated from vehicle he talks about a gun in center console. I think that is the first thing I would have told the popo with both hands out the window.

If the cop is trying to pull debris out of the weather stripping, I don't think I trust him not to be the kind of guy that may plant evidence. Normally I am a guy that consents but not for that cowboy.

yup, Iím gonna step out and let the officer do what he thinks necessary. And Iíll be as respectful as I can be. Heck, Iíve been stopped, with my sidearm right beside me. I had all windows and sunroof open to maximize visibility, hands on the wheel, and immediately let the officer know I was carrying. Offered him the pistol for his comfort. He said no worry (just not to grab for it), took the license, registration, and insurance and did his thing.

Vegetation while driving? Cop better become a door person at WalMart. He gives all cops a bad name.

That nonsense is directly contradictory to the US Constitution and the spirit with which the nation was founded.

I don't have to explain why I want a gun. I have a constitutional right to have one.

I don't have to explain why the police can't search my home or vehicle without a warrant, probable cause, or my permission. I have a constitutional right to protection from unlawful search and seizure.

Get it?

pretty sure you were not there, almost positive there will be more to the story as well! was the officer over the top possibly.

LEO, coast gaurd, marine patrol, and any other authorities everyone wants them to protect and serve our country but at the same everyone wants the " you cant search me blah blah blah" well pick one. safety or to not be searched. but you cant have your cake and eat it as well. when your not cooperative, it would make me even more suspicious!

No. Exactly wrong. We do not have to "pick one."

"LEO, coast gaurd, marine patrol, and any other authorities" must have probable cause, a warrant, or our permission. Period.

What country are you from? Did you ever take civics?

I'll take the "Can't be searched" every time, I alone am responsible for my safety.

So you are ok with the guys from the other LEO thread, running around hitting rookies with rubber dildos at the station, making a call on what rights you get to have today? Whatever makes his day go well works for you? Illegal search and seizure will not make us safer. If you have the time or the desire to wait for the police to obtain a legal search warrant to search your property, you are 100% in the right to ask for it.

CG needs no warrant, consent or probable cause to search your boat. Other LEO's it is in the courts as I type.

yes i am, because im not doing anything wrong so i dont need to video the incident, if they feel the need to search, they can and in a few minutes they will find nothing and i will be on my way.

i would really like to see an entire video of this incident. not saying the office is 100% right or that he did not do anything wrong. but i bet there is alot more to this than that video shows.
