Default Verizon Store stupid or crooked?

Local Verizon store wouldn't even try to fix my phone even though over the phone the 800 tech guy told me it was likely a software issue and he spent over an hour with me (saving files and such so he could wipe it),but I gave up and said heck i will go to a store and have them do it. The Verizon Store in Middletown would not even look at it never mind wipe it and such, even after I told them what the tech said. They said the software is too old (not even 2year old phone) . They said I needed a new phone. I balked and said well I'll save all my photos somewhere and wipe it myself and see first she said fine 'll see you tomorrow cause that wont work.

I talk to the kids at school (where I work) - described symptoms (slow, dies at 55% charge - gives IMS app not working message on start up and have some symptoms of a virus). Do not down load a google app phone cooler that my phone told me would fix everything - it does nothing except mess up other stuff.

Anyway kids at my school say get a new battery.I do and they took off a few apps and closed some apps and it now works fine.

I am pizzed at Verizon - will call and write but also want to bad mouth them here and on YELP.

I have never felt any form of discrimination my entire life. But as a 69 Yr.Old that looks every bit of it - I know I am treated differently in stores and restaurants where they don't know me. So maybe it is discrimination? Just did the Yelp review - this store plain sucks..

Rant over

Have a good day kids. I feel better already...

The world has become obsessed with overwhelming greed and they (people-corporations) will lie through their teeth to separate you and your last cent if you allow them.

I for one hate to see what this world looks like in another 10-20 years but it won’t matter because I’ll probably be dead and buried by then and thank God.

That would be funny if was meant as a joke, but it wasn't. The only reason the software on a 2 YO phone could be "too old" is that Verizon hasn't been sending updates like they should. My 2 YO Moto G4 is running the current release of the Android operating system, provided by Verizon.

Was it a verizon corporate store, or one of the franchised ones? The private/franchise ones use the verizon logo but really have no stake in the game except to sell you a new phone. That's the only way they make money.

Most 2 year old phones that have been used much will have a battery that has lost some range. Electric vehicles keep their batteries between 40% and 80% charge as to not "damage" their capacity. We all use cell phones from 0 to 100% a lot.

Regarding how to wipe and update your phone, youtube is your friend.

Yes.... agreed. Never go to a franchise store. Worthless. And never have the incentives and deals the real stores to either.

Thanks

I am pretty sure corporate -how do I find out? The 800 Verizon number refers me to them. Plus if you call the local store number it sends you to Verizon. Nobody mentioned the battery even after they knew it stopped working at 50%.. I have no problem with batteries needing replacement They could have at least suggested it or at least looked at the phone.

Verizon? Didn't think anyone still used them. Over-priced and poor customer service. No thanks. I'll stick with T-Mobile.

I didn't know anyone DIDNT use Verizon.

But yes, 4 years and counting since the last time I stepped foot in one if their POS stores...contractors or otherwise.

I will never go to a cellular phone store again. Buy off eBay, handle your plan online with actual competent individuals in online customer service. Life is too short to deal with the morons who work in the store. I've been screwed over by then on multiple occasions and decided they offer no value whatsoever.

Just dropped Comcast for TV due to charges increasing every other month.

Our Cell phone provider is AT&T and added DirecTV to the package.
Contracted installer comes out and hooks everything up.

Come to find out the box wasn’t picking up the internet transmission for playback.
Call DirecTV # and imstantly directed to AT&T Corp.
Rep doesn’t even listen to the issues being experienced or reschedule a tech to come fix the issue.
Instead, she instantly starts trying to sell me new phones,,,, and sneakily tried to get me to agree to their highest dollar insurance plan.
I hung up and called back to get a supervisor on the phone.

This. Made the switch years ago and haven’t looked back. They’ve called my wife several times begging her to reconsider. Not a chance!

.
I recently learned this. The store near my work is a sales store, not a corporate store. Fortunately, the guy there was very helpful. He told me the setup of the Verizon system with company stores and retail resellers. Even though he wasn't making any money, he tried to help but eventually said I'd need to go to a corporate store. Fortunately there is one near me. They fixed me up so I've got to say my experience with both stores was positive.

Verizon is the only one that comes in around here and where my kids live and where we boat. No real choice. Found ATT to be very poor when travelling years back too.

I'm not sure anyone is doing it because you are older. What is that saying? Don't attribute something to malevolence when it can be easily explained by incompetence...

Save everything off the phone. Pictures, contact list, bookmarks, etc... Perform a factory reset. Apply all updates. Google these steps if you don't understand, or post more details here.

If a factory reset doesn't work, it is something hardware, and you do need a new phone.

After reading the other YELP reviews, it was more than incompetence -

As I said The new battery and deletion of some apps as the kids advised seems to have cured all. I just need a new keyboard for voice recognition talk to text and all will be well.

Every time somebody tells me that Verizon is the only one that works in their area, I tell them the same thing: Go to a FACTORY T-Mobile store. Ask them for a trial phone and test it yourself. Verizon, IMHO is a joke. They have people convinced that they are the best... nonsense.

My friends have ATT and T mobile and when we are out they have used my phone- especially on the boat. But the maps show the same in my ...area but not where my daughter is who is on my plan.
  • #1: Verizon: 81% 4G coverage
  • #2: AT&T: 66% 4G coverage
  • #3: T-Mobile: 58% 4G coverage
  • #4: Sprint: 29% 4G coverage
here is the t mobile site for Tishimingo MS

To each their own. Prior to Verizon I had T-Mobile. On SR-710 between North Palm Beach and Okeechobee (my 60 mile daily commute) T-Mobile would drop out just a little north of PGA Blvd, pick back up at Indiantown and then drop out again until I got to Okeechobee (where it was spotty). Verizon - 2 bars or better all the way. Also, year before last, my wife and I went to the Grand Canyon. We traveled around the entire canyon. She was still on T-Mobile at the time and couldn't get signal quite often. With Verizon I don't think I lost signal but once or twice in the most remote areas (2 hours from anything).

Currently there are layoffs/store closures coming, they're milking the shit out of sales the best they can to pad stats.
