Default Terror at Sea...Ed Teach aka Blackbeard

Saw that show on.....Discovery channel-History channel....can't remember station. Anyways...kinda cool. Real neat being fairly close to where he met his demise at Ocracoke island. He was an SOB. Not sure how accurate portrayal was....ARRRRRGH!

Broncho ~ think it was on Discovery. I meant to watch it, but will have to catch a rerun. DANG~!

BTW - there are GOOD pirates and there are BAD pirates.......we around here are GOOD pirates~! We have a "code"........ask my boyz. They learned from the BEST ~ "Pirate Tom"

Been to see Pirates of the Carribean (2)? We haven't yet but WILL!! (LOVE that Johnny Depp.........character!)

Did any of you notice the error in the show?

The next time is't on, watch where THEY SAY he "scuttled" (questionable too) the Queen Anne's Revenge.

They say it grounded and sank in Topsail Inlet. They're close, they only missed it by about 60 miles and 5 inlets. The wreck that the archeologists are pretty sure is the QAR is located in Beaufort Inlet about 60 miles north of Topsail Inlet.

About the only thing they did get right is that the final battle was at Ocracoke.

A crafty fellow, and no doubt excellent sailor. It was a different time.

One bit of info that surprised me is that he was only "in business" about 18 months and only about 6 of those were along the US coast.

Sounds like someone can't read a chart too well. The wreck is at the mouth of Beaufort Inlet. The Topsail Inlet they are probably referring to is the inlet that connects Taylor's Creek to Beaufort Inlet. It is is Topsail Inlet.

Don't know about that. The Topsail Inlet I was referring to was the one at the south end of Topsail Island. About 60 miles south of Beaufort Inlet.
