Looking for suggestions here. My boat had an exhaust issue, marina quickly and confidently diagnosed the issue (captains call/corsa exhaust) so I went with this particular mechanic/marina to fix the exhaust in addition to several other items including transporting the boat. The exhaust repair was $1,100.00 with total invoices close to $3000. I instantly paid all of these in full via PayPal immediately when I received them in my email.

Most of the work occurred in March, received the various invoices for the work and paid them within 10min of getting them on March 8th via PayPal, the boat was delivered to me on March 27th. Launched the boat on April 13th and the exhaust isn't working correctly. The one solenoid doesn't work/engage at all which could have been easily diagnosed on land during the work and repair.

No big deal, texted the guy and he said it has to be a simple issue since he just replaced everything with brand new parts, solenoids, etc. Text on the afternoon of April 13th "Looks like I will have to make a trip up." April 23rd...."Probably tomorrow or Wednesday." April 28th...."Rain killed us last week. I'm going to be there Tuesday (which would have been May 1). Numerous text of the next few days go unanswered till May 9 "Got jammed up on a few boots here and didn't make it up. Can you have anyone look at it quicker than I can get up there. I have a feeling the boat will need to come out of the water to access the flap on that side."

This wasn't working since day 1 so why it needs to come out of the water, etc kind of bothered me. Told him it never worked and what was happening "Oh, so it might be just an adjustment, I thought maybe the flap came loose like the other side." So again on May 9 "But I understand you paid to have it working. I will get up there ASAP. I'm sure its an easy fix. It has all new solenoids."

Guy hasn't been to the boat yet and it's still not working. Paid $1,100 damn near instantly upon receipt of the invoice and the exhaust still is not working. Going on 36 days since he committed to coming to look at the boat and fixing what I paid $1,100 to have fixed and still hasn't come to even look at the boat. Oh, and 70 days since I paid the invoice in full.

Any suggestions????

Gather Evidence/Documentation prepare case . Issue a formal letter to him if no satisfaction

Worst part is its a member of THT who owns a marina, etc. Thought since it was in the family I could trust him/them. All I want is the exhaust fixed which I paid for. Nothing extra, nothing special, etc. He said he deals with these exhaust all the time, etc. $1,100 for new parts and labor and it not working doesn't sit right with me. This issue should have been diagnosed on land. The solenoid won't engage. Boat didn't need to be launched to troubleshoot.

This??

From my knowledge, pay-pal isn't an acceptable form of contract payment. At least to an operational facility contracting P&L.

Cash/Check/CC only when it comes to contracted labor.

Work through PayPal to dispute, if possible. In the meantime, collect and keep your documentation.

I'm going to try and dispute via Paypal and see if that motivates them to come and fix what I paid to have fixed.

Not that I know ANYthing about PayPal and not that it’s any of my business, but why use PayPal when it is so easy to use a credit card? Just curious and hoping to learn from you.

i had the boat moved moved for you. Period. I had nothing to do with your repairs. You contracted someone else for your repairs. Better get your facts straight before you start slandering people
