Default iPhone issue, searching for signal. Verizon.

1.5 year old phone. Three products on same plan, two iPhones, one iPad. Only one with an issue.

Started flashing "searching" or "no service" the other day and dropping calls. Isolated at first, becoming longer periods. I'm in a full service area, not area specific it cuts uot.

Went to verizon store yesterday they swapped uot the SIM card, and it worked rest of the day. I was thrilled. Crapped out again after dinner last night, haven't had service since.

Set meeting at Apple Store for Monday at noon. No way I was taking Friday at 4:05. I'll go incommunicado for a weekend before I deal with downtown CHS at 4 on a Friday.

been googling a good bit all they say is SIM card exchange. The fact that only 1/3 products has an issue leads me to believe it's the phone not the carrier.

edit to add: no I do not have Apple care, and I have never been to the "Genius Bar". In fact I've never set foot in an Apple Store, though I've been an iPhone user for close to a decade now. Is it going to be exactly what I picture in my head? I know they don't pride themselves on reliability but i find it hard to believe they'll charge me a bunch of money to fix a 1.5 year old $900 phone.

Double edit: just popped out and replaced sim, then re started phone. Got service again, for now.

I had one about 6 months ago the cellular function just crapped out. Wifi and such still worked, just no cell service. Took it to Apple and they tried to restore it and it never turned back on. I told them they broke that shit and eventually they replaced it. It was like 14 months old so just out of warranty

Yeah I had brought an old phone with me and had to leave using that. I called apple CS and they brought on the store manager who eventually said she would replace it. It was a very frustrating afternoon.

I'm no Apple fanboy, but I have been a loyal user for a while now. Aside from some questionable updates, their products have treated me well over the years.

I tried powering up my old one last night it was uncooperative.

Its going to be like fixing a spotty outboard problem or an electrical bug in a vehicle. If there's nothing To replicate Monday I'm not sure I want them resetting my phone.

Phone crapped out for a short period of time yesterday morning, twice that I noticed.

I don't stay glued to my phone on saturdays, but haven't noticed it out at all today. Unless it takes a hard right turn between now and monday I'm not letting the apple wackos reset everything.

Im kind of interested to go into the Apple Store actually. It's a nine iron from my office, but I've still never been. It's usually crawling with punchable faces.

Yeah went in there once, hope to never go back again. When our iPhones/pads do weird things, instead the normal power off power on, I press and hold the thumbprint button and power button at the same time until the phone restarts itself. Saw a Verizon guy do it once, apparently it some sort of systems reset but doesn’t mess with memory stuff. Always seems to fix whatever issues we are having at the time.

7 and newer don't work that way anymore. Ever since they added the thumb print recognition I used to do that too.

On the iPhone 7 and 8, hold down the right side button and volume down key until you see the Apple logo.
