Default Evidently silence is the neighborhood expectation?

NJ/FL transplant at it again. Sent me a letter today asking to ban leaf blowers. Who the hell buys a house in a neighborhood with 1 acre+ yards, expects to never hear leaf blower.

I get that the folks that use them every day for hours on end are obnoxious. There is literally nobody in our neighborhood like that. Other than the few times per year when massive amounts of leaves have to be dealt with, nobody runs theirs more than 10-15 min at a time, maybe twice per week. how the heck is that remotely offensive. Should we all take up brooms and rakes and quadruple the time?

i could understand restricted usage hours, like not before 8am or after 7pm just because of the annoyance factor. But to want to ban them outright is foolishness.

same lady asked last year to ban grass cutting after 7:00 pm, and completely on weekends. That may make sense in a country club neighborhood where hiring it out is the norm. Ours is nice, but very much of the demographic where almost everybody does lawn maintenance themselves. In our situation, a) changing covenants is nearly impossible, and b) lawn maintenance gets done when you have time. Personally I do nearly 100% on week nights, all the way up until final light, because I very much value my time on the weekend. Dumb hag can go to hell.

I thought I was the only one. I dont have a HOA but have neighbor who left letters in all my neighbors mailboxes asking that we please ask our "yard services" to only use "powered equipment" from 8-5 during the week. my neighbors all cut our own yards and do our own yard work, all of us. We put a letter in her mailbox that was extremely sarcastic and passive aggressive stating something to the effect that she lives in an area of working class families and we wish we could afford the "luxury" of having a yard service, and added that we were flattered that she thought that our handiwork was the doing of professional services. People are strange, I guess its never occurred to her that maybe some of us work during the day and take care of mowing our yards after work and on the weekends.

I know many here will not agree with me, But I now firmly believe that people like that need your complete wrath and I mean no holds barred. Tell her or him to F off. Once these ass holes get an inch they now feel empowered and it only gets worst. NIP IT IN THE BUD NOW.

my neighbor behind me spends at least 2 hours + on his dinky 1/4 acre lot. lawn srvice people spend longer (to run up the bill I guess) and have worn out mufflers (operators are already deaf probably.
root problem is gas powered engines with poor mufflers (to keep cost down) on blowers, should be electric as a beginning.

I feel you. I moved back to the country to get away from such non-sense. Unfortunately it just follows you. I live in a "horse community" and some of the neighbors are complaining about having to see horse trailers on people's property. Oh the humanity! Stupid people. They're everywhere!

definitely the approach being used. She tried this BS last year and got shut the heck down. Evidently has a case of selective amnesia.

As a northerner who lived in your state capital, please allow me to apologize for the northern behaviour. Please good sir, recognize you will not change her, for she is liberal indoctrinated. Simply nod and agree, as she realizes southern gentlemen take care of their property. In the end, all you can do as hoa President is be neutral. Also, there are some of us northerners who realize that how we did it “back north” does not matter, as our southern colleagues often show us hoe we were not doing it efficiently.

To quote a friend of mine "they need a beating"

This is how I now deal with complaints of this nature: (substitute blower for bike in this case)
