Default Black car service in NYC?

I remember someone mentioning a good limo service in NYC to get from the airport to accommodations but I can't seem to find the thread. Recommendations please...

I have used them at JFK at least a half dozen times over the last year. There's a bunch of them in the airport at all times and they show up in minutes. In March our flight was delayed 4 hours and we got through customs at 2am. Needed an XL since there were 3 of us and a bunch of luggage. Problem? No problem, 6 minutes we were in a nice Expedition with leather seats.

If I'd booked a limo it would have been more $ and I would have had to make a bunch of phone calls to make sure they would still show up.

39 years ago, before uber, they were cheaper than a cab if you had a long enough commute. NY, Chicago, etc

I prefer Lyft to Uber in the NYC area - I have had far too many Uber drivers cancel trips while I was waiting for them to show up - almost never happens with Lyft.

Harbor View in Bay Ridge is what I always used when I lived up there. Uber or Lyft will work as well.

Just used car service for the first time between midtown and JFK (both ways).

Check out www.precisioncarsny.com. Go to the website and fill out the quote form during business hours. Within minutes you’ll have a response email. A short series of additional emails finalizes your booking if you like the quote.

Driver texts you when he’s at the pick up location. They supposedly monitor your flight.

Not cheap ($120 each way for four of us in an Escalade, which included the base rate, tolls, a 20% added gratuity, and a 10% first-time discount), but reliable, clean, and comfortable.

I’m sure Uber would be cheaper, but I liked knowing I had a firm appointment waiting for me. YMMV.

Uber.

4.90, which is impressive given how intoxicated I usually am inside of an Uber.

ditto on the lyft vs Uber. Pretty much everywhere.

Its myspace and Facebook. Uber started it, lyft improved upon it.

oh and torfed, 4.97 here. I threw up in one (on my anniversary) once and wound up ruining my wife's Uber rating as a Second anniversary present.

Typically, the way I roll. However, if I do not mind being late a second or two, I'll opt for uber.

You can make appointments for pick up in the uber app

I used to use black cars all the time for work when I traveled weekly... they get dispatched, they were late many times, one time an hour late and I missed a flight... I stopped using black cars and switched to cabs at that point (right before uber launched)

The locals will tell you the best way in from JFK is yellow cab as it is a fixed fare. Plus you can ask at the line if anyone would like to split the fare.

Uber is the better choice from LGA and EWR, but bear in mind that Terminal B (American, among others) has a crazy pick-up scheme by shuttle bus that adds 20-30 minutes.

If you are light on luggage, the Air Train to the E subway is a great choice depending on where your hotel is located. About the same time as a car service and only $7.50.

That's funny, my experience is the exact opposite.

Niceeeee. Making sure it was on her app was a power move.

My bad ratings are because with a little child at home, fiance, work, etc... it is rare I get quiet time to just think. I get low scores from drivers who want to talk the whole time when I am not interested. I assume it is them thinking I think I am above them or a dick, but really, it is rare to just get a little relative quiet and 15 min with my thoughts.

Uber and Lyft do fixed fares too or at least they used to, either way, they almost always came out less expensive than the yellow cab fixed fare

The taxi line can get long. I've seen 45 minute waits before. There used to be ways to short-cut the line at both LGA and JFK but unsure if they still exist.

Taxi is usually cheaper than uber/lyft in NYC these days (I live close and am in often), only issue would be airport lines.

Good god man, are you trying to give this guy the shittiest impression of NY he can have within the first 10 minutes of being here, or mugged depending on the time of day?? I would never advise anyone from out of town to take the AirTrain to Jamaica...the place is a friggin sewer, plus you have to go out of the LIRR station and on to the street, then down into the E station and then sit on the E train from the end of the line, plus then he has to figure out where to get off or transfer (depending on where he's going). Probably the least convenient way to get into the city, with or without luggage.

Yellow cabs are a fixed rate, but take a look at the cab line when you come out and tell me you wouldn't spend an extra $10 to not stand there like cattle....shit I'd pay an extra $25 not to stand there. I used to always use a black car, but never do anymore. I use Uber or Lyft for everything, even within the city. Makes no sense to stand there waiting for a cab to be go by that's open.
