Default I-Pad very slow!

I can't find the post telling me how to completely wipe my I-Pad clean of everything so that it will run much faster. Any site that's photo heavy won't load?

As always..thanks!

Here are the instructions. They'll work for all iOS devices. I don't believe the menu functions have changed much, but these listed below are from iOS 11.3.1.

First, connect the iPad to your computer and iTunes and do a backup. Backup to local device will pull everything. Backup to iCloud will only pull the important stuff. So, I'd recommend doing a local backup and verify you can see the backup file.
Once that's done, unplug the iPad and go to Settings --> General --> Reset --> Erase All Content and Settings.
You'll have to confirm that you really, really want to do this.
Once that's done the device should be set to factory settings with the exception of iOS version. iOS version will be the same as you have now.
Then, power it back up and plug in to iTunes again. ITunes will see it as a new device and ask if you want to setup as new or restore from a backup. Restoring from backup will bring back all apps and settings (account info, bookmarks, etc.)

How old ? If it's older, there is no way to speed it up. The older models have 500MB of memory allocated for the OS. As updates have been released the OS has continued to grow. Newer models have more memory and therefore are faster

2nd generation. It's charging now, but looking into doing this when it' done charging.

What your saying is even if I do this it may not allow web sites with heavy picture content to load. That's what happens now. When I go to any source like BBC, NBC, FOX, etc, she starts crawling!!!

Unfortunately an iPad 2 does not have enough memory for the updated OS. Time to upgrade

The difference is night and day

Do not buy anything prior to a 5th generation which has 2GB of memory (not to be confused with 16/32/64/128 GB of storage)

My Gen-2 is barely usable on this site, needed to upgrade to a 5 for my Nav SW. Use the old one primarily for reading downloads or watching Netflix (downloads) on the plane, just allow enough time for the download - it's painful

Yep, I've got a pair of iPad 2s, I rarely even turn them on. Browsing THT and ebay and such feels like a struggle.

Got it, thanks again all. I did what was suggested and it "Seems", to have made a difference on the speed at which sites, heavy with pictures do load, but might be my imagination. ???
