Default Side-question to the Keyless Cars thread

The Lexus is flawless, but our MB occasionally forgets that the fob is in the car and I have to dig out the fob and use it like a key. After a couple of times, the keyless button works again. Is this common? Can it be overcome?

Third question, my trucks horn honks twice if you exit it while it running. That is annoying as hell.

the dealership tech guy said to leave you fob in the car all the time, I told him that sounded like a good way to get it stolen

its only a matter of time till I wake up every neighbor close to me

2018. F-250 is someone has a hack (read about one for 150’s haven’t heard about 250 yet)

If you leave the key in the car and use the manual lock on the doors it will lock and close. Murphy's law dictates that you will be at least 100 miles away from the other key. In my case anyway.

60 bucks and almost 2 hours later we had the doors unlocked.
I haven't experienced the issues you describe yet.

It will honk if the passenger gets out while it’s running, with the fob in my pocket

Is the battery in the fob weak

I've seen it happen once with my key in the MB. Never had it happen in the Nissan. I'd say there's a problem with either the MB key (or battery) or the receiver in the vehicle.

That is annoying. My Nissan will beep (internal beep, not a honk) if the key leaves the vehicle while it's running. I even turned off the lock honk function to avoid waking my neighbors.

The horn honks?!?!?1

That's horrible. Mine beeps at me, but it's not a horn.

Doesn't your car have the keypad for entry?

my F350 does the same thing - I wish there was a way to disable the honk.

My 2017 F250 will let me leave the keyfob in the truck and lock and unlock with the keypad. I wish I had the same option on our other vehicles.

I can't imagine - the beeping on mine is bad enough... I leave the door open all the time to avoid.

But a full on honk. Sorry.....

Probably some dam government specification. My 2007 Chevy honks the horn if I try to lock the truck with the key in the ignition. There;s more to the key than just mechanical operation. There's a RF chip in key. You can turn the key and it will crank, but if the chip isn't programmed properly it won't energize the fuel pump.

It can be disabled on the new Super Duty trucks by using Forescann.

I disabled it it on my old '16 F-150 and on my '17 F-250. The process was the same for both.
