Default Our local Marina burning up!

This one just a tad down the road from me on Lake Hartwell.... just across the lake from where the Bass Masters was held a few weeks ago. Lots of boats gone too.

We had a local marina burn up several years ago during the winter. Someone put a heater in their boat while the boat was in a storage building and of course it caused the fire. A buddy of mine that was trying to sell his boat for a long time called me when he heard about the fire going on and asked me if I would help him push his boat into the burning building!

Hope there are no injuries...such a shame. Hopefully insurance takes care of everyone.

Lots of high dollar boats at that marina. Stuff you wouldn’t expect to find on a lake

Yep

Talking my my insurance agent today and asked him about liability. He said it is terrible but before it is all over it will fall back on the guy that was working on his generator and started the fire he is afraid. . He told me insurance companies will pay off BUT then they will turn and go after the guy that started the fire even though it was an accident .

The joy of subrogation. Yes they will definitely sue the generator guy.

I was in the area today and pulled in there. Compared to the pics/videos on the news I was very surprised at how intact everything looked in regards to the docks. Roof definitely took a hit. People were busy walking up and down the effected dock, so guessing it is structurally OK.

I was actually in the area for boat related stuff, and owner of the shop I was at indicated that that guy who started the fire was pretty well known for jury rigged BS, and that it wasn't all that surprising to those immediately around him. That is completely unsubstantiated and unverified, but just what I heard for what its worth.

I was able to drive into the marina parking lot and down by the docks and got a few pictures. These were from a few hundred feet away out the window of the truck with my phone.

Friend of ours sent us this pic, her boat was damaged as well

Kind of surprised at how well the docks held up, wonder how bad the steel is damaged though from the heat
