Watched the video. Looked like a parent from the old days bending her over and whipping her butt. I know "times have changed" and parents don't spank their kids anymore but this was a common sight just a few years ago before everyone was afraid of exactly what happened to him - arrested for "child abuse".

And back then you didn't have kids sassing teachers and adults with nearly the righteous indignation that we have today. I can't fault him.

I think more importantly, back when parents and teachers doled out appropriate discipline, kids grew up far better adjusted and had a much better attitude to the world at large, and even more importantly, had much lower tendency to use automatic weapons on their classmates.....

Yeah, I have NO PROBLEM with taking a belt to a childs rear end, but he grabbed her and pulled and jerked by the hair and punched her once in the face. Sorry, that's over the line and he needs just a little help with anger management.

Seems he was a bit harsh. I'm all for punishment like it used to be handled but from the video it looked quite different than when your grandmother grabs you by the ear and administers a few "corrective procedures" with the perfect stick she made you fetch.

Read the body language of the kid... not the posture of someone who just got a punch in the face, but it appears that something he says is what makes her curl up in the corner.

yes, pulling hair is a bit over the top, and any punching is unacceptable.

My 9th grade earth science teacher used a goalie stick on us.

The dad's actions were a bit abusive

I'm all for corporal punishment but that was way over the top. IMO, he should of waited to dole out discipline at home. If you can't keep your emotions in check, then you shouldn't be punishing someone like that..

I have never needed to tune my kids up. Sometimes all it takes is an angry look from me, get them in line. My mom would send us out into the yard to get a stick, so she could hit us with it. If we came back with a twig, she'd grab the whole tree.

Shaking my head here. That was WAY beyond the pale and over the top. If he did that to her at the office one can only imagine what happens at home.

I think she is a handful and her attitude pushes his buttons. He doesn't know how to respond but desires to "do the right thing." He wants his daughter to behave properly but what he's doing will accomplish just the opposite. He absolutely needs help controlling his temper and anger management combined with parenting skills. I bet he's doing to her what was done to him as a child or young adult.

Pulling of the hair is a bit over the top, but he looks like an involved parent that will not tolerate his daughter being disrespectful. I think more parents need to do the same to their kids, when I was growing up the same or worse would happen to me if I was disrespectful to anyone.

Deddy would let me pick the piece of weeping willow and it had to be flexible. Worked wonders as far as discipline.

Nowadays, just take their smart phone away from them for a couple hours. Haha
