Default Road Rage is real and deadly

And getting worse IMO. Just one of the reasons for CWP and carry.

"Hazy accounts of two men arguing and the vague description of a vehicle speeding north down a Missouri highway are the best leads investigators have as they hunt a mysterious man believed to have stabbed a young Air National Guard member to death Saturday in an apparent road rage murder.

Cody M. Harter, 23, of St. Joseph, was found dead in the median on 291 Highway, near the merger to Interstate 470 in Lee’s Summit, after he collapsed from a stab wound to the chest, FOX4KC reported. Drivers reported seeing a man stumbling into the highway traffic at about 7:30 p.m.Harter, a loadmaster with the Missouri Air National Guard, was pronounced dead at the scene. His maroon 2003 Chevrolet Silverado was found parked on the shoulder of the highway."He did a tour over in Iraq and he was in Qatar," Harter’s mother said at a news conference on Sunday. "He helped with hurricane relief in Houston and Puerto Rico. He loved everyone. He would help anybody. He only had one semester left until he graduated with an engineering technology degree.

"
Police said Sunday that Harter died in an apparent road rage incident. Drivers said they saw two men arguing outside their vehicles on the highway, with the suspect’s vehicle parked in front of Harter’s truck in traffic.Harter's car was found on the shoulder of the highway. (Lee's Summit Police Department) Police believe the suspect fled north on 291 Highway after stabbing Harter. Witnesses, however, only provided a vague description of the suspect’s vehicle.Harter’s mother made an emotional plea Sunday for witnesses to come forward for information to have the killer arrested."[Harter] brought us great joy. He knew great joy. He knew love," she said. "He knew adventure. He knew kindness, and now we know pain and loss. If you saw anything, even if you think it was nothing, please call. Please call to put the pieces together. Let's find who did this senseless act, so that you're not sitting here when it's your child. Please, please call."Harter also owned a lawn care business and was an avid dirt bike racer.Authorities are asking anyone who may have been driving down Interstate 470 or seen Harter’s truck on 291 Highway around 7:30 p.m. Saturday to call police at 816-969-1705."

Sad story but the guy shouldn't pulled over and got out of his car. Too many crazy people in today's world.

To bad.

He was all that but still to dumb to let things escalate to the point of his demise.

This world is going down in a hand basket....God help the generations to come.

I agree with all.

One thing I have seen some people carry firearms is they become more aggressive. Less willing to back down or give a little more leeway. Not saying all by any means nor that it applies in this case.

Just saying.

I do agree that the world is going down in a handbasket. Can't even watch the news, local or national, without some crazy crap going on.

Any reason to believe that he wasn't the instigator?

Yeah, I've noticed this as well. I have a good friend that I can always tell by his demeanor if he is carrying.

Maybe I'm getting old, little you can do on the road anymore that would wind me up enough to not laugh and drive on. And my history is SE Florida, and the D.C. Beltway. Now, the worst that I deal with is a slow moving farm tractor.

.
I agree with this. Too many hot head cop wanna-be's have CWP's these days. It does not give you authority over anyone else and you are not the law. One of those idiots is going to shoot the wrong person some day. It will make it hard on the rest of us who practice situational awareness and understand that your firearm should only be used as a last resort after all deescalation tactics have failed.

So very sad!!!!

The world today is no different than the world 500 years ago with the exception of the following IMO:

1. Population is larger, therefore more nut jobs
2. Technology allows every incident to be viewed by all
3. A systematic dismantling of Christianity by those in power, both left and right.

No - either way one of them was the crazy and they both were to stupid to walk away before a death occurred.

This is opinion and youre welcome to it however I suspect the number of incidents involving CWP holders is considerably less than the general population.

My heart goes out to this family however before this mother convicts somebody in the court of public opinion, she needs to understand there is another side to this story.
Maybe cold blooded murder, may be self defense.

Stay in the car, keep the window up, if he is stupid enough to break the window and try to reach the driver, he deserves whatever he gets, Sometimes I have a pistol in the car, I always have a geology hammer next to the seat

Yep. Everyone has bad days and do things they know isn't right. He may have jacked with the wrong guy on his bad day.

Whoa, there Sunshine! Keep talking like that and you’re getting kicked out of Florida. In memory of Ol’ George. Zimmerman that is. Where ever he may be.

Well yes - because there are considerably less CWP holders within the general population. So I'm not following you.

Do me a favor and go observe a CWP class at any local gunstore next Saturday. They don't teach you situational awareness. They don't teach you how to avoid confrontations. They don't teach you that if you discharge your firearm, your life as you know it will likely be over, forever. Based on what I saw in the last class I observed. I wouldn't want these people shooting in the lane next to me much less carrying around my family.

Now some classes are better than others, but in many situations the shops are looking to make a quick buck. Many shops are doing two classes a day now.
Give gun store $80 another $100 to the State and now you can act tough around your friends and impress the girls.

I'm sure the vast majority of CWP holders (myself included) are responsible adults. But there's always going to be the George Zimmerman types that do it because they think it makes them tough and they can act like cops (which we know isn't true).

I meant per-capita and lumping all or even some CWP holders in with Zimmerman is ridiculous..... Also Zimmerman was exonerated.
