Default THT Couples Keys Trip

While in Orlando last week, Wiley and I discussed a Couples Keys trip next January. Not really a fishing or boating venture, just chillin' in the Keys.

Anybody interested?

I'm in.

Sounds interesting, Deidre (fiance) and I were just talking about a trip down there just this past weekend. More details please as they come together. Haven't done the "Duval Crawl" in awhile.

We would like to come, but we are headed for the Miami Boat Show. Someone complained about the lack of photos and that is forcing me to go next year

Hotspot:

We need to keep this going, maybe in the event section as an up-coming event. We normally do not go down in January, however....we may just make this trip to chill with all the good folks from THT......

I might be, but we have the little one and my better judgement says probably not. As soon as I get my sights on better judgement, I plan to shoot him..

Woody you'd best put out an extra plate at dinner time because I think that one is there to stay for a while.

As much as I'd like to get out and meet a number of you I know it isn't happening for me this year.........I just finished dropping 10 big ones on the boat and accessories so far this season.

Have a great times guys if this gets off the ground...have one or two for me while you're at it.

We're In!

Careful of the dates though. I've been in Key West a few times in January where the wind chill was around 30 degrees.
Not fun on an island where you really do want to be outside all the day.

This is something we could easily put together. Those that want to fish could do so on their own schedule. I wouldn't really want to organize any type of fishing event. There are a dozen or so guides on THT from that area who I am sure would like to take you guys out for a few hours.

Also have to be aware it's peak season Nov-Feb with hotel prices double what they are now.

I'll be there as soon as we settle this da#@mn insurance deal where this sailboat hit my big boat but the guy's insurance doesn't want to pay. Once it's done though, I am going to take her to the keys for a much needed vacation.

As frequent Keys visitors, we stay away from Duval - up at the Doubletree.

The Doubletree is one of the nicer mid-size hotels on the island and about half the cost. No ocean views or bars nearby but we hop on our mini-bikes and are mid-Duval in 6 minutes. Rates at hotels (non-weekend) in Jan near Mallory Square are usually around $350-450/night wheras at the Doubletree they are under $250.

Yes, those visitng for the first time might want to pay to see the sunset from their room, but those of us semi-locals who visit often might want to look into saving some cash and booking a block of rooms up the road.

I'll just need a good marina that has a good rate. My boat takes two 50amp electrical connections, or I have to run the generators.

Sounds like a good idea. If we go down....M& myself will be fishing at least once. Will run it by her soon.

You might think about maybe waiting till the end of Feb . Jan winds seem alot more troublesome for you if you should want to do some fishing. Plus I think the temps are more predictable as well.

We'd still be in. Any chance of making it Feb though? Weather tends to be better then plus you can bank off the Miami Boat Show.
