Default Baku gone, F1 in Miami in 2019

That's the story circulating right now. Hope it happens though I will miss all the excitement of Azerbaijan.
F2 races were awesome also.

I just don't like street circuits for F1. I won't go.

Maybe not as cool as a road course but I used to love going to the Miami grand prix as a kid. I promise you'd have a good time.

Were those chariot races??

I remember those. Don't remember the course. But today, it's all about attendance and $$$$. Racing is secondary.

The cars are so fast, so stiff, so aerodynamically sensitive that many road courses don't really allow the cars to race at their full potential. Now, Monaco, that's just racing history. I drove Monaco in a street car, I don't know HOW they get those beasts around the course.

As much as I hate the idea of traveling to Miami and dealing with the traffic, expense and rampant "non-English", I'd LOVE to see a F1 race through the streets of any major metro in the U.S.! Racing courses is just another race. Part of what killed NASCAR is the "cookie cutter approach" they made by building all the tracks in the last 20-25yrs to be the same in every locale. If you've seen a race in Chicago it was the same as the race in Texas just like the race in Vegas that was just like the one in Homestead. But racing through the streets, THAT is racing and is where F1 came from and owes it heritage to!!! INDY should've seen that 30yrs ago and started racing through the streets in Can/Mex/US and then F1 would be asking THEM what to do in North America but the clueless, greedy morons thought stadium racing was where it was it. Look where it got them!

What killed NASCAR was not letting them race aggressively, getting too damned PC and alienating their fan base.

Or maybe everyone realized that watching cars turn left for hours was boring as hell.

I have nothing against a street course in Miami, but I'd hate to see F1 leave Baku. That's probably my favorite track now.

Baku is a superb track and allows multiple passing opportunities. But was looking at location on a world map... I won't go there!!

Last time I saw street F1 was Detroit. Hopefully if they come to Miami they can find a more suitable circuit

Tamiami park.
I remember delivering some of my equipment to an ARS team in the late 80s there. Colombian drivers wanted to pay cash, I wound up walking around with $14,000 in my pocket (all in used 100s) the whole weekend.

Mixed feelings on this one. I love to go to Austin for the F1 race in October, if Miami is in the same month will be hard to justify.

The story is it would take place on the Baku date so late March. That would mean 3 trips to North america for the circus.

I generally loathe street courses, other than Monaco of course.

Anyone remember the short lived Palm Beach Gran Prix?
I went to the first and I think the second one.

The only race I've ever been to was the Miami Gran Prix. 1991? 92?

Obviously I have nothing to compare it to, but that race was FUN!!!

We walked thru the maze and found a place about 2/3 of the way down the only straight away, which we figured would be where the cars hit their fastest. We were about 12 or 13' from the cars at their very fastest. So cool!
