Default I hate Pecan trees!!!!

So.....I've been compounding and polishing my boat inside and out for the last month.I am putting ceramic coat on it and it needs to be as perfect as possible. After I cleaned it with the prep solution (alcohol and water)I put the first coat on the inside, everything but the deck, (it is to supposed to bond with the gel coat and has the uv protection to prevent fading) and it looks beautiful. You have to wait between 3 and 12 hours to apply the second and third coats,( these provide the hydrophobic and slickness and more gloss). It's an 18 year old boat and I've owned it for 10 years and this is the best it has ever looked since I've had it.Well, overnight apparently the Pecan tree in my front yard and the Pecan tree in my neighbors yard decide to start shedding these curly Q things all over the boat and my truck.Of course at the same exact time the dew also started falling.I come out the next morning and all over the WHITE truck and OFF WHITE boat are these evil, staining, crumbling,BASTARDS.I had to go to work and when I came home, everywhere they dried had a perfect outline of a stain only bleach would take off.I consulted my friend Google to see what these things were.Apparently there are 2 kinds of Pecan trees. One is a unisex, transgender tree, that can be male or female to pollinate and My tree has a male and a female to pollinate.Well, the male is the TREE DICKS that make the mess on everything in it's path. The females are cute little flowers. So I have been blowing, nope, using an air hose,a tree dick magnet (microfiber towel) and a broom to get rid of these SOB'S.I have them in my pockets,my hair, even had one in my underwear, and I'm a little jealous.I'm going to have a talk with my neighbor since his tree dicks are in my yard attacking my pretty little flowers. Now doing the bow and hardtop I'm having to clean with bleach, then alcohol, then 1st,2nd,and 3rd coats. The hull sides actually went pretty easy and the inside cleaned up with just water.I hope this is all worth it and it last the 2 to 5 years they claim.Did I mention I hate Pecan trees?

Is it the trees themselves or the furry tailed rats that thrive on them? I have 7 pecan trees and I am on a quest to get rid of the squirrels. Luckily I can shoot in my back yard and the game warden told me that if they are "destroying" my pecan trees I don't need license and it doesn't need to be "in squirrel season". He also told me the same about crows but they are smarter than squirrels. Once I shot about three crows they don't come around anymore.

Of course, the pecan tree pre dates you, is working day and night to make you some pecans, and you parked the boat there.
If it would make you feel better, you could have a live oak trees there and everything would be yellow with bloom tassels all over.
Want to trade acorns for pecans?

Glad your ceramic coating is going well, I know it must be applied correctly and that takes work. Which product, and how was it to use? Have one friend who is using one brand on his Porche as well as boat.
I am waiting for results. Will post brand he is using.

Good Luck

That ceramic coating stuff is amazing, didn't realize you could use it on boats. A detailer guy is trying to talk me into it for my car. $450 for him to do my car, but he says it should last 5 years or so. Still researching the stuff.

wezie and Biloxi Guy, thanks but I'll just keep the Pecans.lol I'm using a product called Gtechniq. It's made in the U.K. and I ordered it straight from them. I ordered 4 kits @ $104.00 each and they arrived in 2 days.C1 for the first coat and EXOV3 for the next 2. I've wasted $400.00 before so if works half as good I'll be happy. The hardest part is the prep. It's really easy to apply just wipe on,let it sit a couple minutes and wipe off with a microfiber towel.I will post pics when I can.If yall have any questions I'll be happy to answer.Gotta go before the paragraph Police show up.

I hear that Tesla might be selling a flame thrower that could help with your Pecan tree problem....

Why hate on a tree? Don't put your boat under it OR, put up one of those carports.

Well, for 1 the boat is right beside my house.2 there was no problem when I was buffing for over a month.3 The trees conspired against me to start pollinating just as I was putting the coating on.

I had 6 pecan trees at my place in Beaufort,NC.

Seems they pollinate about the same time each year.

I have 2 ginormous ones in my back yard. Great shade in the dog days of summer. I’ve always thought I would try to harvest them some day but seems like it would be a royal pia. I do use fallen branch’s for the smoker in small amounts. I wouldn’t think of parking my boat under them for the very reason you mention.
