Default Port O’Connor / Port Lavaca Tx area

My son has been offered a job doing Bull Shark Research out of Port O’Connor. Looking for any feedback on the area, areas to stay away from, places to look for housing, etc. Not familiar at all with the area. This will be a quick relo - needs to be down there by 4/9. Any help is appreciated.

POC is a Really small fishing community, there is no place to stay away from. Some inexpensive property and some really expensive properties. There are some long term rentals listed on 2coolfishing and Russell Cain has a majority of the listings there. Not much night life but a really cool village.

I live in Victoria, Tx... About 45 minutes from Port Lavaca.. If you have any questions, feel free to drop me a line. I do a lot of fishing in both areas, so I know a bit about them.

Port L is a small town, not much as far as beach really as it's up in the bay more. Port O is located closer to the gulf openings, but is still in the bay/ICW... and is even smaller.

If he is studying sharks, probably will be spending a lot of time out in small of the bays where they run into for breeding and of course in the gulf.

A nice newer marina in Port L and good people from my experiences. Port O is more of a tight knit community of people with vacation houses, kind of snobby with some and others are good people.

Anyway... if I can help in any way.. feel free to drop me an email... Offroadmike@gmail.com is the best way to reach me.
