Default 10 year anniversary - Caribean recomendations?

Hey:

So my wife and i celebrate our 10 years together in May.
We want to go on a trip, just a week or so, and preferably somewhere new and relatively easy to get to.
I was thinking about maybe the Caribbean, we have both been to Jamaica, Grenada, Barbados and exhuma so not those.
Would love to do a smaller type place, with either great food on site or nearby, maybe a nice spa and possibly some fishing. Just looking for a very relaxed feel, but not too rustic, no kids around.

Anyone got any ideas?

thanks a lot

Looking on line now, any recommendations on where to stay, seems like there are a few smallish nice places, Matachica resort and spa for example.

thanks a lot

We stayed in Placencia at a house that was an airbnb. It was ran by Maya beach hotel so we still had a cleaning service every day. We had family stay at Belize ocean club about a month earlier. It may be more of what you are looking for. It is also in Placencia. I have also stayed in San Pedro. It is definitely a little more “rustic” with some resorts mixed in. Both places were amazing. After traveling to many other tropical destinations Belize is my favorite. Plus the fishing is amazing. The only downside is you will end up on three flights from Charleston. The third flight is a prop plane in Belize.

Stay away from Jamaica, it is not the best place these days. A good buddy loves Aruba.

I've been reading some nice reviews about Cancun. Prices seem to be dropping...

Why do so many people like to keep repeating this bad information? Just like any city in any country, you should stay out of the ghetto. All the recent problems are in places that you have a zero percent chance of visiting while there because there are no resorts or attractions in the freaking ghetto.

The airport is fine. You get shuttled to your resort where the security makes damn well sure that the guests are safe and happy.

For the OP, I'll throw in Couples Negril or Couples Swept Away. Everything you want except good fishing and it's pretty affordable.

Heading to Couples in Negril in a couple weeks! I would recommend Turks and Caicos, specifically Provodencials. Small place, super safe to walk around and check things out, great fishing! While there, I would also recommend visiting Silver Deep in town and prior to heading down, book a bonefish trip with Arthur Dean who owns Silver Deep. Go resort style or rent one of the many houses there.

BVI would be my first choice, then Isabella Puerto Rico

Royal Isabela Puerto Rico

We honeymooned here. Absolutely loved it but way off the beaten path and isolated. The house suffered severe damage from the hurricane so they might not be open for a while.

My wife and I did 5 days in Antigua last June and really loved it. Beaches were amazing and we liked the resort we were at. Great food, spa on site etc. Only downside for some would be the 5 minute shuttle to the beach as the resort was on a mountain side.

We will will be going back in the next few years.

Maybe because it is true? I will never go back to Jamaica again. Might not be such a bad place, if it wasn't for the Jamaicans! Not bad information.

If you are an1-2%, St. Barth’s is your place. Does not get better, but expensive as hell!
