Default To go along with the drinking habit thread, do you get hangovers?

When I was drinking I would dread having to wake up the next day because I knew how I would feel. I had tried so many no hangover tricks and not one of them worked. The older I got the worse the hangovers would be. It got to the point where the hangover would last for 2 days, I couldn't eat and had a brain hemorrhage type headache.

I know some guys that I used to drink with that say they have never had a hangover, I don't know how this is possible. Alcohol does the same thing to my body as it does to theirs so why do I get awful hangovers and others don't? One guy that I used to hang out with told me he never had a hangover.....because he was never sober. He is a bad alcoholic and actually gets up during the night to do a couple of shots of whiskey. His wife was in the hospital for a broken ankle that she broke while drunk and missed a step at the bar. This dude actually brought a cooler with beer in it when he went to the hospital to see her! The nurses were in and out of the room and they never said anything to him about drinking beer in a hospital.
I have NEVER heard of anyone taking beer to a hospital. He is a great guy but I wonder what kind of a person he would be sober? I have never seen him drink anything but beer and whiskey, even when out fishing he would pass on the water and drink beer.

How bad to you feel the day after a good bender? ;?

Drink heavy til midnight or later, I'm done for the whole next day.

Get to bed by ten, no matter how much I drink, I'm pretty much golden.

I used to drink a lot. I settled on gin. I could drink a lot of g & t's and never get stoooopid, wake up next to weird chicks or with black eyes and bruised knuckles. mixing liqueurs, or wine, liqueur and beer or different liqueurs, tequila... all bets were off.

One cure a buddy talked me into doing was a handstand. And if you can manage it after the worst of the worst drunkings... it works. Part of the headache of a hangover is the liquid buffer between your brain an skull is affected due to severe dehydration. A handstand forces that blood to your head and helps re hydrate that or something, (puff puff give).

basically it's like everything: practice makes perfect, know your weakness's and strengths and youth is wasted on the young,.

Have kinda been drinking on the pro level for 30 years or so. Never had much more than a little headache when waking at 5:00 to go to work. Last year the Doc said I was showing some issues in my blood work. So I quit daily drinking. Now if I drink more than a beer or a scotch I have a hangover that lasts well into the afternoon. I guess it's payback.

I haven't really had a hangover in about 20 years. I'm either a superhero or I have an issue.

My money is on superhero.

Exact same way. I drink a gallon+ of water a day, nothing will fix the hangover but time.

I do my fair share of drinking and can outdrink most anyone I encounter while keeping my composure. That said, the nights I do drink like that it takes a toll.

Many of the people I encounter who drink a lot and don't get hangovers drink to the point there is always some alcohol in their system, so of course they'd never be hungover.

As I got older the fun to hangover ratio started changing. It used to be six hours sleep, a hot shower, a quart of ice water and a whopper cured what ailed me after a night on the town. Now if I have 5-6 beers, I feel like crap the next day.

That has it's own new level of "hangover" nowadays. But that sure was the cure back in the day!!!!! My personal choice was the 1/4lb'er with super sized fries (large Sprite on the side). Add a little vodka to the Sprite for some Hair of the Dog.

LOL!!!!

I had my insurance adjuster license for a while, but that was only for catastrophes (which may or may not include fast food related hangover cures)

About the only thing I can eat the day after a drunk is a couple of bowling alley cheeseburgers & a big glass of diet Pepsi on ice. The girl at the bowling alley snack bar name is Kim & when I would come in before noon she knew I wasn't feeling good & why. She used to ask me if I had a rough night and my answer was always "great night awful morning."

I know so many guys that go for a cheese burger when they have a hangover. It must be a universal thing.

I drink Titos and rarely experience any hangover symptoms. I'm sure the cranberry juice helps.

At least those pesky urinary tract infections are trending down.

In my beer drinking days, a quart of water before bed usually prevented any hangover or minimized it. Now it's Tito's with water and a lime, no adverse effects the morning after!

Water and Advil before bed and chocolate milk asap the next morning. Getting 6-7 hours of sleep goes a long way as well. That being said I don't drink that much anymore to warrant any of grannies elixir to help me through the next day.
