Default Do we agree its time to ban them ?

I am SICK AND TIRED of reading about more deaths everyday because of these things.

When I was a kid, nobody had these things. Yet, most Americans insist on owning and using them. WE HAVE NO control if their owners use them responsibly or not. We have absolutely never needed these things before and we can get by without them. Some idiots use them as some sort of fashion statement to compensate their ‘limp’ self-image. There are even conventions to show them off, in spite of the fact that they know the damage they can cause.

"I need it" "It's my right" "It is the user's fault"

Yet, the manufacturers donate millions of dollars to politicians each year, so Congress won’t do a damn thing to stop them.

It is estimated that every day in America, 9 people are killed and over 1000 injured just in accidents and millions of dollars in damage with these ‘devices’ that people demand is their ‘right’. This doesn’t even begin to touch the emotional and psychological impact it has on the loved ones of those who are killed or injured.

Even with common sense laws against their use, people continue to cause horrific damage with them.

There is nothing in the Constitution about these damn devices and the Founding Fathers could never have envisioned these things.

Until these things came along, deaths in this category in the US were decreasing, but since their introduction, every year more people die or are injured because of their reckless use.

We keep hearing about the toll they take, keep seeing them glorified in tv shows and movies, yet the do-nothing politicians only pay lip-service to the idea of passing common-sense laws.

We see the deaths and horrific injuries these things cause every day in the news.
We them in the hands of children and in schools.
We see them used on tv and movies.
We see that their manufactures are just in it for the money.
We can’t wait for the politicians or their corporate donors to do something.

We have to do something now.
Please join me in calling for a ban….

on Smartphones

These things are ruining lives, are dangerous when used improperly and are just goddamned rude. Look up from the screen and interact with real people and the real world.

PAY ATTENTION

From another forum. Obvious satire, but steeped in truth which makes it humorous

It looks as if Albert Einstein was right. Albert Einstein was fearful of the growth of technology and its effect on the human race.

-Albert Einstein's quote: "I fear the day when the technology overlaps with our humanity. The world will only have a generation of idiots.

I'll sign up and turn mine in. As long as I can call and text I'm good. And I could do that with my old flip phone. So yeah I'm in!

Gave my 17 year older a 25 to carry just in case...been shooting since she was 8.
You never know.
Her grandfather said.." that'll just piss him off...here's my 45 "
My daughter...your both nuts that's why we're here today....put the 25 down...hoped in the Volvo he and I got her and left.

10 minutes later he says did you give her gas money...yup...did you...yup

Lololol!!!-

Supreme court ruled.

They are now a right!

Obama enforced the right by issuing them to the poor.

No problem here.I don't even own a phone!!! Never have, never will. My wife has a flip phone for one thing only.....emergencies.She will not answer texts..you need to have the courtesy to call and talk. If you can't do that, don't bother, I guess I'm not important enough for you to contact. Also, put the damn thing away at dinner. It's sad that when you're out to dinner with friends and they lay their phones on the table.....in perfect view and CONSTANTLY checking them. You are telling me that your phone contacts are far more important than dinner with friends. I usually make a point to say something that will bring it out and embarres them. Don't treat your friends like they are not worthy of your attention. We have done very well living without a phone growth on our ears. Our lives function very well....We are able to cross the street safely, smell the fresh air, and can hold a sustainable meaningful conversation face to face.

Do not e-mail or text me an invoice.it will not get paid. You need to SEND me the bill, and it's paid immediatly. Do not look for banking online, transfer of funds by phone, or ANY financial transaction. I go to the bank, go inside, and greet the tellers who know my wife and I. We actually talk to them, conduct business face to face, and leave knowing no one stole a "pin" number or an account.

Phones have become the bain of our social lives.....It's sad that a psychological condition now exists for those who have become phone addicts. Again, what once started out to be a great tool for emergencies has now been ruined by society becuase of abuse of the intended use. Our social skills suck, it's pathetic to see how NO-ONE can talk anymore, they can't get their freakn' face out of the phone.

Smart phones don't kill people, people kill people.

When smart phones are outlawed, only outlaws will have smart phones.

Sorry, but somebody had to do it.
