Please don't make it political. I purposely started it here to signal that we want to keep politics out of this. It may not be possible, but let's try anyways.

Not sure anyone is going to change anyone else's opinion. The gun is just one small piece. Easy to make laws that make you feel like you helped fix the problem, even when they don't. I understand wanting to stop the madness, but you need to look at everything. I think this is just one red flag of the breakdown of society. Broken families, drugs, no morals, lack of faith, and entitlement. Many more problems to address, or we can take the warm fuzzy feel good approach and do something that doesn't really address the real problem.

I had to help my wife pick between 2 dresses for Saturday night. Do you really think my opinion mattered? Her mind was already made up, she just wanted confirmation.
There most grown up thing I've said on this site

I think we should all get together to solve one of this country's biggest problems: Should the National League adopt the designated hitter rule so that it plays under the same rules as the American league.
Please, please, please folks, lets keep politics out of this so we don't end up in the bilge.
The OP can now thank me for bringing clarity to his question.

Address it like grownups?
Accept that some people have different views than other people, and name calling is in fact NOT addressing it like a grown up.
Fans of the two party system both try to call me a member of the opposite party, or even start assigning religions or foreign militias to me when I say something that is unpopular.
So to address the OP like an adult, it is impossible to have a conversation here like adults because it is THT, and if you aren’t a hung-ho destroy the rest of the world with bombs financed by China type, you are the Taliban.

A lot of emotional response with these things. First and foremost is sympathy for those involved, but many are just waiting for these things to happen and view it as means to advance their agenda. Up to the various governing agencies to set new policy. Up to people to put competent people in charge and to use good sense instead of emotion.

Assuming the subject is about keeping schools safe ?
We have a state lottery that funds the school system up to a certain percentage and the rest is allocated elsewhere, roads maybe ? (If so, not around here)
If the state was at all serious about helping the issue, whether it be have an armed guard at each entrance of every school or other means, it would have been done by now. Problem is, it’s politically driven and they aren’t gonna give up the fat paychecks. So, no fix in sight.
