Default Russin jet "Dances"

I'm not a pilot, but it's gotta take some crazy skills to do this

I believe that is a radio controlled jet.. but yes it does take a very high level of experience to do that.

Indeed RC. I flew a lot of RC fixed wing prop planes and it took a specially designed and well developed plane to ‘hover’ like that. That’s with the prop pulling, cannot imagine what its like with the jet pushing. Like balancing a ball bearing on the tip of a pin!

There may be some electronic aids in play. Not sure since I haven’t been involved in the hobby for 15 years but there could well be some gyros helping some of the control inputs, or some other gizmo!!

Yeah, there ain't a real Russian in the cockpit, but still very impressive! My guess would be they have some sort of variable jet nozzle installed to be able to dance like that.

Why isn't there any disturbance? The people are just standing there, no wind, no dust, no clothing moving, flag hanging limp on flag pole, seems pretty sus to me.

It doesn't take a lot of thrust to move a model jet around. You're probably talking an engine something like this inside it:

Makes like 52 lbs. of thrust.

Because they're 50 feet away. Would you expect their hats to be blowing off is somebody had a leaf blower pointed at the ground at that distance?

This. Google is your friend. I've seen four jet engine B-52's launch and fly at some of these RC airshows. It's freaking incredible. They spend a boat load of money and one wrong twist on the controller is crash and burn.

I was at an RC airfield by my house one day when a Budweiser van pulled up and unloaded a badass Bud RC stunt plane. The guy flying it was some Budweiser exec. He was really good too.
