Default Hell's Angels in Canada

Interesting that the Hell's Angels have had such a big influence on crime in Quebec and pushing into Ontario.. Competing with the Mafia.

Ever since the Sons of Anarchy went away, other motorcycle enthusiasts clubs have taken over.

Seriously though, this is nothing new, the HAs have been in Canada for many years.

I know that they are all over Vancouver. They also run the security in the strip joints!

That gang to this day is still a huge underground source of guns and drugs in all sorts of countries. Back in 2010 I met an undercover ATF guy that was more than likely working in that sort of "circle." I was exploring FLEO careers and he was mentoring me as a favor to a mutual friend.

I had a run in with a local club in NJ, the Pagans, when I was a bouncer back in my younger years.

The Pagans, Mongols, HA, etc were the real deal before the Sons of Anarchy thing took over. They still are force and they tend to bully the hell out of the "weekend warrior leather vest" crowd.

I have seen the documentary twice. Yes, if you want to know the history of biker gangs in Canada, search out that show. Very, very good!

Yeah there was a bar just across the boarder in Canada that was owned/run by the hell's angels but they never hung out there. The parking attendant sold coke for them and the local PD would come through every few months and lock him up. He'd get out and right back to it. A guy I worked with got busted in NYC with 300lbs of pot that originated from the same place. Owner got caught several times crossing the boarder with hundreds of thousands of dollars taped to himself.

Place was a shit hole during the day but at night you couldnt really tell and they had every 18-21 year old within a 40 mile radius heading there.

We have a chapter here of Outlaws.
I ride with the V-twin club out of Edenton NC we're the Black Rock Chapter but we ARE NOT 1%. Those kinda clubs are called one percenter's

Their women are owned, or thats what they call it, they for the most part are ordered around like servants.

For sure a controlling thing, but everyone carries a gun now so the war between clubs that are once percents and those that are not don't happen.

I've dated a girl, her husband got tied up in this kinda club. Its a lure like being apart of something and your chapter comes first even over family. Crazy to me but their those that want to feel so much being in control and a part of something those are the ones clubs like this seem to attract.

Not into this lifestyle or even way of thinking but their organized.

Our little local chapter of the Outlaws I never see them. In summer we usually have 20 to 30 bikes riding every Saturday . Yes we have a few party animals, and the party life does come out but again, there are those that do and those that don't. I'm one of the don'ts.

To each their on, but for the most part their a good group to hang with in the riding.

Riding is fun but if approched by a one percent group I'd let them know quick I was not interested.

If you want some interesting reading on the HA's in Canada and 1% clubs in general, look into some books by a Canadian guy named Yves Lavigne. The books are Three Can Keep a Secret if Two are Dead; Into the Abyss and Taking Care of Business.

I rode Harley's for nearly 20 yrs, owned 10 from 1996 until I sold my last one in 2010. HOG Rally's, Sturgis, numerous rides and events allover the place. I did alot of it with my dad so I've got GREAT memories of our riding years. Strictly recreational and never into the "1%er" thing. But I saw quite a bit of that side of motorcycling and one of my best friends and his family own 5 HD dealerships in TN so I've been around alot of everyside of the motorcycling industry from corporate HD brass to the the "1%ers" and most everything else in between. (Had an uncle that was a hardcore, felon, member for The Syndicate MC back in the 60s & 70s. He lived the proverbial "gang life" but died a drunk, alone and broke.)

One night several years ago my HD dealer bud called and said, "Tonight we are riding with one of THE KINGS!" It was Sonny Barger! (He was the founder of the HA Oakland Chapter, did heavy time in San Quinton and is the stuff of legend both within the HAs and on the common street and "television history" as it pertains to biker clubs.) I didn't know what to expect. Sonny had written a book and was doing a book signing tour across the country. He did a stop/signing at my buds dealership that afternoon and was going to be heading to Nashville later that night.

I was there at the dealership when Sonny rode up. I was shocked, he was by himself. Just he on a purple Road King and that was it. I expected he'd have an entourage or at least heavy security! We spent a few hours with the guy, I'm a straight down the line, law abiding citizen but I must admit it was quite amazing to hang out and talk with a man like him for an afternoon. Folks came and went, took pics, talked stories, the guy was ROYALTY amongst the bikers that came and went. Sonny smiled and appeared to enjoy the attention. My bud had his techs take Sonny's bike into the shop and give it a full oil change, service and clean up while Sonny sat in the showroom signing books, smiling for photos and talking about his life.

About dinner time the shop began to close up and Sonny asked where a good bar with food and cold beer was at and asked if we wanted to go with him? US? ;? HELL YEAH we'd ride with THE MAN! So we all jumped on our bikes, I even had my wife come up and and ride with me just so she could say she had ridden with Sonny. (She had NO idea who he was, but to this day now when she sees him on TV she laughs and says, "Oh yeah we rode and hung out with Sonny! He was "sweet". ) We carried Sonny to a local redneck bar that is also frequented by bikers. When we walked in the true, old school bikers that were sitting at the bar they about SHIT THEMSELVES when Sonny walked through the doors! Some of them acted like the Pope had just walked in. Some were Gobsmacked and couldn't do anything but sit there. Some from rival gangs, uttered some actual praise of the guy and then SPLIT!

We started asking Sonny once again about his security and the fact that he was alone. He laughed, held his "electric speaker thingy" up to his throat and in that rough, gravely "electronic voice" he said, "I always travel alone. I fear no one. I have connections allover the globe. If I get into trouble, I can make a phone call and in a couple of minutes I can have HELL ITSELF reign down anywhere I need it to!" He said if I don't make Nashville by such and such late tonight then there will be hell to pay and folks will come looking and wanting answers... I thought to myself, "Well ok, I guess that's how he's lived his whole life & that's his comfort zone." ;?

I remember in 2006 my dad and I rolled toward the Custer National Park during the Sturgis rally and the highway was LOCKED DOWN. Agents and LEO were ALLOVER the place and had full auto guns, full riot and swat gear on and a HEAVY presence and had the highway shut down. We parked our bikes and stood right there in the middle of the highway for about an hour or more. I can't remember now the specifics but two rival gangs had a shootout in the campground and the Feds and local LE locked the entire area down until they cleared it all up.

Hollywood shines it up and makes the MC gangs appear cool and mythical. But honestly they are organized crime and run dope, guns, whores and all the other criminal activity that most street gangs and mafia types do. They just ride awesome bikes, have hotter chicks and look cooler doing it...

The town I grew up in has a large chapter of the HAs.
My brothers wife became best friends with the presidents wife.(bros wife was a mud wrestling, undefeated champion they used to wrestle together) The presidents second wife was a girl that lived downstairs from me most of my childhood.
I drank with some of those guys at clubs a few times, and partied with a few of them at a girls house a few friends knew.I was always very uneasy around them. Many stories growing up that I won't get into. The smart guys I hung with gave those guys respect and a wide berth.
