Default Sea Monsters or creepy things you have seen on the water

Post any creepy things that you have seen out on the water or stories of things that you have seen that shouldn't be there. I was having a debate with a fellow captain who thinks its just old sailor superstitions I want to know if im alone on here.

I saw something pushing a wake 2’ high in calm water offshore that was huge in length. My guess it was a submarine but no clue and I didn’t go look

I've seen turtles the size of cars that looked like monsters until I realized what they were.

Diving in the Keys and saw what we believe was a Lions Paw sea cucumber. It was a long worm looking thing kinda poking around the reef. Not wanting to touch it with my hand (worried it might sting or be toxic), I lifted it with my dive knife. .....with surprising quickness, it retracted back into a hole in the reef.

Looked something like this, it was about 3-4 feet long and as big around as a hot dog bun.

My ex wife at the beach. PETA tried to roll her back in the water but she kicked back pretty hard!

Default Big shark

Back in the 80s a buddy of mine and I were fishing offshore in FREEPORT Texas. Most likely by the old Tennacos rigs. We are drifting along in a 16’ boat catching and releasing some pretty big sharks. We look over the side and a shark swims parallel to us that is as long as our small craft. We chose to move and fish elsewhere.
My guess is it was a big bull shark.

Default Awesome

Thank you guys those are awesome, I always like hearing about everything people have seen. I’m not saying aliens are going to come steal me but I’m glad I’m not alone in questioning some things seen out there. And to everyone else, keep them stories coming!

I was out on the boat with my girlfriend. I had to take a piss over the side. It was just about the time I whipped it out and started to go that I hear my girlfriend yelling something about a "giant sea monster". I'm asking her "where, where's the sea monster?", but she just kept yelling. When I was finally done and zipped up my shorts, I rushed over to where she was and asked her "where is it babe, where is the beast?" She was starting to calm down at this point and said it was too late. The beast had already retreated into it's lair.

When we got back to shore, we reported what she had seen to the authorities. Well, between you and me, after hearing her description of a big headed, blind (no eyes) creature with a steady stream of yellow liquid gushing from it's mouth, I'm kind a glad I didn't see it.

That day forever changed her. She can't stop thinking about the monster she saw on the boat that day. I't almost as if she's fantasizing about it. It's much worse when we're making love. Damn! Of all times, why then! But I can only guess that she's having some type of nightmare about the monster because she just starts screaming. Fortunately, it's usually when we're almost done and I can get her calmed down afterward.

So there, that's our story. I know, incredible isn't it?

I've seen some whales who shouldn't have been wearing bikinis, or any other kind of bathing suit.

Hard to beat that story ^^^^

A buddy and I were dolphin fishing out of Ft Pierce last year and we got to the depth that I like to start trolling so I asked him to drive while I get the BH rigged. It was pretty rough as usual, and I was pulling the thawed bait out of the bucket on the back of the boat and getting the rods setup. I kept thinking I was seeing something out of the corner of my eye by the edge of the boat where I was tending to the bait.

After looking up a few times and not seeing anything, I just told myself you are seeing things. Then the first trolling rig I dropped over the port side right beside the boat, I looked down and there he was, about a 12' hammerhead, and I dropped the bait right on top of it.

I guess he was about as surprised as I was bescause he turned his head to the side to look and when our eyes met, he took off like a bat out of hell!

My daughter came to visit, so we went to the beach. She asked "What are those pillows that are jumping in the air? Black on one side, white on the other..." It was a first for me, too, but at least I knew they were rays - little guys, maybe 12"-18" across.

Not really creepy. Overnighting and spearfishing in the Marquesas keys back in 1982 or 83. Diving in about 30ft found this heavy brick that was covered with growth and decided to take it back to the boat. On the way saw a large grouper and set brick down to chase him. Caught up to the grouper and missed him and off he went. Went back for brick and could not locate it. Never thought much about it until they found the Atocha wreck a couple of years later right where we were spearfishing. Will never know if that was a bar of silver or gold.

That’s one hell of a funny story.

I went offshore with my dad on Dolphin Docks' boat out of Port Aransas, probably either the Dolphin or the La Pesca.

We were drift fishing for kings when we noticed the crew frantically running around and then the boat started moving without any warning to 'reel em up'.

Shortly after the Captain came down to the port side of the boat and was eyeballing what looked to be a long cylindrical object floating closer and closer to the boat.

Turns out it was a torpedo, or at least that's what the captain and crew said. They put a radio call out to the CG and we moved.

This was in the early 90's, and I was in my youth. I'll never forget it though. Every time I'm driving a boat with low-light, I think "Man it sure would suck to hit a torpedo.."
