Default Old people that can still do just about everything they want.

I posted a picture of my buddy Bob on the relaxing thread. It got me to wonder if you know of old people that surprise you on what they can do.

Bob is 90 & will be 91 in April. He still drives a car & still uses his boat. He will walk along the top of the gunnels to pull the canvas off & he puts the cover back on with no help. I try to help him do stuff but he always says " you act like I am old or something!"

He will stand to cast all day and never wants to go in. He walks a couple of miles every day, he doesn't hold on to a cane but he does hold on to a small baseball bat to protect himself. A neighbors dog bit him on his hip when he was walking & there are a couple of other dogs that wander around. The dog that bit him followed him & when it charged him he whacked with his little ball bat. The dog doesn't bother him anymore.

He loves life and says he doesn't want to die but he knows it's coming soon, it's hard to listen to him when he starts talking about it. He is very generous when we go out on my boat, I tell him I don't want any money but he always finds a place to put money for me. He recently bought a brand new car & I was teasing him that the car he had didn't even have 15K miles on it. I asked why did he buy another car....he looked at me and said "but it was dirty!"

The pic he is sitting down is in my boat, the other is him driving his 1974 19' Grady that is literally beat to hell. I told him he should buy a new boat instead of the new car, he told me he has his boat just like he wants it & it took 50+ years to get it that way & he isn't going to start over!

Do you know anyone like my buddy Bob?

On the way through western N.C., my cousin stopped by our uncle's house, to pay him a visit. He wasn't home, but the neighbor told my cousin that he was at a house further down the block, doing a favor.

When my cousin found him, he was swinging a sledge hammer, busting out a concrete driveway! by himself. He is 92.

Kudos to a hard core generation.
Customer of mine just turned 99 and is moving in with her daughter. Got to her house for some pre real estate sale items to take care of and she is literally on her hands and knees scrubbing the floor. Got to be clean before the listing agent gets here I am informed. She is 5 ft tall on a good day and gotta be 95 lbs. Probably kick my ass. 6 ft 235 ex Marine.
Did drive with her once. Won't do it again.

My pop is 81. Launches his old Montauk by himself and when he plays golf with me he plays from the whites. His brothers are 76 and 85 and Im not sure I could take either or them. Grandpa died at 92 because he was ready.

Dick LeBeau turned 80 this past September, and was the TN Titans defensive coordinator thru this past season. He's in better shape than most 40 year olds. It's all about taking care of yourself. And getting lucky with good genes doesn't hurt anything either.

My Mom is 95 and we'll know when she starts to get dementia because she won't win as many of her bridge games; she's on three groups at her retirement home.

I'm 70 and still use two chain saws and split the wood with an 8lb maul. Built a 2-car carport last year and noticed that I'm slipping, because a 6/12 pitch isn't easy for me to do anymore. I like to work.

My Aunt passed at 102

Up until she was 98, she did everything she had always done except drive....social - yep, she was super active and had many younger friends of course.

She ate bacon and dessert her whole life - whatever she wanted. Never smoked or drank though

My granddad is 95 or 96 started using a cane last year. Still has a small 1 acre garden . He down sized from his 3 acre he had 2 years ago. Still drives every day wether he should. Thats a different store but my dad said he never could drive guess its not an age thing. He's not on any kind of medication except for his daily vitamin. Also deer hunts every year.

My uncle was in his 70s helping me set rafters on my 2 story lake house.
Scaled the top wall plate like a cat.

Good health is everyone's major source of wealth.
Without it, happiness is almost impossible.
Stay active, eat right. and take care of your body and mind.

I truly believe environment factors (chemicals, clean air and water and the like) are a great influence on things like cancers.
