What's so difficult to understand? It gets frustrating at times, but the rules are simple. If you get there 1st, you go 1st.
If 2 vehicles get there at the same time, the person on the right goes 1st or if they are across from each other, the person going straight or turning right goes 1st. If you are turning left, you wait. SIMPLE!! But I never force the right-of-way.
Many times I get behind the person that doesn't know when it's their turn to go, but more dangerous is THAT person who thinks it's always THEIR turn to go. I almost got run into by THAT guy today and he got mad and flipped me off.
Just crazy.......

Try roundabouts.
The reality is, whether driving or anything else, more than 50% of humanity is simply stupid.

The rules are in the handbook. Learn them before you drive.
You are supposed to be tested on this.
If you don't know the rules, you have no business driving.

We have elderly people going the wrong direction in roundabouts all the time.

So the driver in lane one perpendicular from you gets there fractions of a second before you, as you are waiting for that driver to go another vehicle pulls alongside him/her in lane two, as the lane one driver moves the lane two vehicle use that driver as cover to go a head of you, is that within accepted protocol of a four way stop.

I adopted that policy years ago after much frustration with people who had the right of way and just sit there to be polite or some such nonsense.

One of my major driving pet peeves happens and multi-way stops.
As I'm approaching (maybe a half block away) a 4 way stop, I see a car on the cross street stopped at the stop sign.
That car waits for me to come to a complete stop before he goes through. Then I am stopped waiting for him to go through the intersection and finally I get to go. It wastes so much time. It would go much smoother if he would stop and go then when I get there I can stop and go.
Unless a car is barreling toward the intersection and you are the only one there. Stop and GO! Dont wait for me to get there and force me to wait for you to go through.

Never noticed it at home but down here in Florida it seems everyone is just old and not too quick to move, or just not in a hurry. I just do a quick stop and go here. Try that in Jersey and there will be contact.
