Looking to lay on the beach, snorkel, maybe a couple of excursions but nothing too crazy. What areas didn't get hit? What areas got hit but are on the mend? Turks and Caicos? Jamaica? Is St. Thomas/St. John back up and running? I appreciate any advice or tips, thanks in advance!

I live here, itís safe, we have a big white beach (7 Mile beach) great snorkeling and diving, loads of restaurants etc and the weather in Feb is great.

I went as a travel partner in Feb three years ago. Water is still cold. did the jet ski in the ocean and snorkeled the reef.
Girl I was with was almost blue riding the jet ski.
What ever shore tour you take leave the water out of it that early in the year.

Barbados. Not the cheapest, but by far the safest, most high end and most to do of all the southern Caribbean islands. Still also the most revisited of all the Caribbean islands...once people start coming to Bdos, they don't go anywhere else. Plus, it's wahoo season :-)

you cant go wrong with St Lucia. February is dry season down here and there is good mix of activities from hiking, to snorkeling, to sport fishing and whale watching on the island. Grenada is also another good option.

Thanks for the replies. Did some more research based on the info you guys provided. Keep in mind we are stuck with Jet Blue since we have the credit from the cancelled flights.

Flights to/from St. Lucia, Grand Cayman, Barbados, St. Maarten are all really expensive.

Considering Aruba. We can get somewhat reasonable flights if we flex our days a little.

Was looking at Nassau/Paradise Island because the flights are really cheap but now I'm worried it wont be warm enough. I know it's hit or miss in February/March. Might still do this and cross our fingers. By the way is there any way to sneak into Atlantis?

I was originally saying screw Mexico but now I'm intrigued by the Playa del Carmen and Cozumel comments.

Thanks again for the tips.

We were originally all in on St. Thomas/St. John but are they back up and running enough to consider? We are concerned about infrastructure and safety. I would love to be able to help infuse the economy with some money and I don't really care what it looks like as long as its warm.

Also it is cheaper for us to rent a house through VRBO instead of 2 rooms at a resort. Does anyone have advice on these 2 options? We would do an all inclusive, but they are cost prohibitive because we need 2 rooms. Unless someone has some inside scoop on how to get good deals.
Thanks

Jet Blue serves Cancun. Getting from there to Cozumel is not hard, but can be problematic depending on what time your flight gets in and departs. There are flights from Cancun to Cozumel, but bags are limited to 20 kilos total per person. The ferry from Playa takes about half an hour. If stuck with Jet Blue I'd look at all inclusives south of Playa. Catalonia is very nice.

Honestly, Playa is growing so fast there are numerous issues, and violent crime has been on the uptick a bit. Cancun as well. Even in the tourist zones. We are fairly well insulated on Cozumel.

might be too far but check out Red frog Beach Club, Bocs Del Tores, Panama.
A friend of mine is an investor in it. I haven't been there. PM me and I will give you his contact info if interested.

Aruba, Aruba, Aruba. Fantastic. People extremely nice, no issues, no worries, great food. Easy to get around.

Consider a cruise?

I'm leaving out of PR to St. Thomas, St. Kitts, St. John's, St. Lucia, Barbados, back to PR on January 14 with the wife. The pricing right now is unbelievable.

Why not just take a cruise, yes I know all the down and up sides but but a Royal Caribbean BIG ship like the Oasis class has much to offer every one and they have some family cabins as well. You can go out of Port Canaveral on the Oasis for FLL or MIA on other Giant ships.

Thanks again for all the replies. Long story short we ended up booking a condo with pool right on the beach in Punta Cana, DR. Someone please tell me we made the right decision. I guess it's too late anyways...

Again, just want to be warm, lay on the beach/poolside, snorkle, relax, maybe some excursions.
