Default The Wife Has No Interest In Boating Or Fishing. Anyone Else?

We are 60 years old. Started dating at 17. I boated and rode motorcycles My whole life. She didn't like either.

Wheather the boat or the bike. All I got was slow down, it's too hot, it's too rough. It's to dangerous, once married it was over. 36 years later I still ride motorcycles and fish anywhere from a 17' to a 36 CC. If I idle down a river so she can read a book that's about it for the boat. The motorcycle she bailed when we were married. Always afraid on the bike and uncomfortable on a boat.

Anyone else?

Almost identical in every way.

I rented a pontoon boat in the Keys and she loved it though.

Having different hobbies and interests helps a marriage. As long as she lets you do what you want, and you let her do what she wants (both within your comfort zones!), you should be just fine!

Right boat could make a difference. My wife now goes out 90% of the time. Some days we may travel some distance to a fishing spot and she starts to not feel well, we head back.

My wife sends me and the kids up to the boat on the weekends so she can get a break.

Totally agree with this. A few years ago I traded a nice bay boat for a less-nice flats boat and deck boat. Wife loves the deck boat. She's happy, I'm happy.

You beat me to it.

Opposites attract is all I can figure.

Wrong, wrong, wrong.

If she has no interest in boating or fishing it won’t make any difference if OP owns a flats boat or a yacht.

Been there and done that one.

My wife hated boating in our 1994 Sea Pro 190DC.

My wife loves boating in our 2016 Sea Pro 208.

Hull design and trim tabs were a game changer.

My wife was a collegiate distance swimmer. She regularly swims a mile at the Y.

My wife does not like to ride on my boat or fish. She’s been a few times and just doesn’t like it.

I don’t drag her alone.

If my wife didn’t like boating so much I wouldn’t even own one. She is like a one woman dive charter. My only jobs are to drive it on and off the trailer and clean the fish. If she asks me to leave the truck home on Friday the weather must be good and the boat will be fueled, iced and loaded in the driveway when I get home from work.

Yep, she doesn't care what I do. Want a new boat? Don't even have to ask. New motorcycle? she could care less. That is a great thing over my whipped buddies that have to ask the wife if they go fishing with me. Most of the time the answer is no. Pathetic.

Wife will take short ride up the river and anchor. We will bring a few beers and some eats.
She won't fish anymore or go out on salt water.
She says she cant imagine me without a boat. Very supportive because she knows it keeps me sane.
Btw, she is 61 and we have been together over 37 years.
