Default Any snowmobile Gurus out there?

Looking at getting a sled for putting around on mostly trails in NH. Looking for recommendation for models with low maintenance, comfort for one up rider. Last one was a 1975 Skidoo Citation it has been a while! Want to keep it under 2K Marty

Look for a simple arctic cat z series with fan cooled engine. They are oil injected and will run forever. I sold a 570cc last year with 600 miles that didn't have a scratch on it. Struggled to get 2250$ out of it. MINT condition. Deals are out there.

Not an easy question to answer. Do you want one that sits and rides like your old one, or one of the new "forward" siting/standing sleds like most of them are now? Next question is 2 stroke or 4 stroke.

Answer those, then I'll give you my opinion!

I had an AC ZR600 EFI. I definitely like injected over carbs.. much easier to maintain IMO and you don't have to worry a lot about altitude or temps getting you lean. The really cool thing is that it is "batteryless". You can get an electric start, but even if you just have pull-start, you pull it once to charge the system and the next pull it starts right up... no matter how cold! I'm sure those would fit in your price range now.

It might be a few more $$, but you could also look at the 2003-2005 Skidoo GSX SDI. Also injected and has a decent ride to it.

I was never a big fan of the fan-cooled ones (even though I still have one today), but they are simpler and lighter than liquid cooled sleds.

I'm not sure you can get a sled that would meet your requirements with your budget. For reference, I sold a few weeks back a 2014 Ski Doo Renegade X with almost 5,000 miles on it for $7700. If you want to spend around $3500 - $4k, maybe look into a Ski Doo Rev chassis which came out in 2003. Buy one with the 600 HO motor. Hope that helps.

Default thanks all

Thanks all gives me a great start!!!! See a few 370 locally in the price range. Concerned my fat ass would be overwhelming. 250 plus loaded with suit and boots.

EFI is good like my two wheeled toys. 4 stroke would be nice like my floating toys but probably out of price range. As to comfort a 75 Citation rode like a log with skis but too old for that crap. May go up in price but realistically would not ride much and have no intention of loading into truck and heading into the mountains.
30 days until until week of fishing west coast Florida. No ice fishing for me since on the wagon.

I’m a Skidoo guy, but Arctic Cat Z sleds are great. Not a fan of 4 strokes. Try jumping on Dootalk. Some decent guys on there. Check Craigslist too. Lots of good deals out there.

You'll mostly find problems for under $2000.

Wait until spring, much better deals! I ride a 2015 skidoo mxz 600 carb sport. Carb 2 stroke is fine, less electrical parts to worry about breaking. Just add gas and oil.
