Default Spotify Premium. Thinking of keeping it (I have a 3 mo. special right now...)

... I can't get the student deal $5 a month) because my kid's aren't old enough. I have an "offer" for $99 for a year. I hate these sort of things, but the damn thing is very good and addictive. Everything is on there and I *hate* commercials.

Any better deals out there? Anyone else a fan?

turn it off at end of trial and wait

won't be long they will be emailing you "specials" to come back

more trouble than I'd go through for $3.25 per month but to each their own

we turned it off after the trial b'c we didn't have a good enough signal in remote Alaska fwiw

"Signal"? It's internet based (this is not satellite radio - I have no use for satellite radio at all LOL)...

I did try that last year. I did the 3 mo deal, and waited for a "special". Never got anything.

This $99 is the best deal I've found. Hence why I posted here...

It’s 9.99 a month regularly.
It’s only saving you a few bucks.

I have it, for work... and I’d much rather pay the $3-4 on Sirius then Spotify actually.

we were running it over 4g (which we have to have a booster for even at the lodge)

the only reason I mentioned not having a signal is so you would understand why we got rid of it, it wasn't b/c we didn't like the service or the price of it

I wish we had real internet out in the bush that would be a game changer . . . one day

I've had it since it first came out. Probably have 50-60 playlist. When I first got it figured it was a lot cheaper than buying songs on iTunes. I'm so used to having it I've never thought about cancelling.

Spotify premium is $10 per month. With premium, you can download the songs/albums and play them anytime with no need for cell/internet connection. I love it. I have had XM and Sirius, and IMO, Spotify is the best. All you need to access is your smartphone. Yes, you need to build your own playlist, but you never hear anything but the music you choose, and, you've probably already have a smartphone. I use a set of wireless earphones, but when in the truck, I hook one of those cassettes with a wire to the headphone jack of the phone. Bluetooth in the wife's car. Worth every penny to me.

I love it, use it everyday all day long. Playlists are good, can search any song I want to listen to. I had XM before and found it was the same 30 song playlist on a loop on most stations. I forgot the exact term but the premium is full quality too just like a CD, it's not dumbed down like radio or the normal service.

Spotify is great. Even my rather thrifty kids in their 20’s pay for it. They have thousands of songs downloaded.

If you have the connection somewhere you can download and play anywhere.

Sirius/XM is basically looped. Drove me crazy...

iTunes is pretty much the same. Unlimited music, downloadable, decent family plans. Sirius/XM has so much compression and poor music quality that I will probably drop it next year.

The download option is what made me pay for it. When we were in the Bahamas - crossing or in areas with so-so internet, it was wonderful to be able to listen to everything we had downloaded. This, coupled with having Netflix things saved on the phone and we were all happy. Nothing like settling into the berth after the kids are asleep and watching a movie with the breeze blowing. Or... listening to tunes while crossing new waters.

I think I'll take the $99 annual deal. I've wasted money on worse. LOL.

I thought an important benefit of bush living was being disconnected from the rest of the world.

The new car came with XM. The music is 100% worthless to me. I don't think they have more than 50 songs per station (if that). I'll admit that I'll listen to Howard Stern from time to time when it was active. But I wouldn't consider XM only for Howard.

IMHO, XM is a waste -- things like Spotify and Pandora will kill it. Eventually things like Spotify will stream things like Rush, and other "shows". Those Satellites aren't cheap. And paying Howard is insane. When he's gone -- Satellite Radio will be dead.
