I wonder if his accident violates any of his sixteen hundred different clauses he has in his contract? But I'm glad, by the sounds of it he will be alright.

When I went in to pick up my bike in 96 and the salesperson asked me if I wanted a helmet, I told her that "now that I can afford(pay for it, not take out a loan) to buy a Harley, life was pretty good, and I can't see screwing it up". Maybe since he's a superstar he thought he could avoid the normal out come of head meets hard object.

The stupidist thing about this, is that he wouldn't think twice about wearing his helmet on the playing feild.

Let's see, a 62 year old woman turned left in front of him and the news is writing about not wearing a helmet. "The police said that no decision had been made on whether charges would be filed" (against the woman). Where is the freaking outrage? It isn't the damed soccer moms on their cell phones who run over motorcycles. It isn't the idiots who pull out in front of them. It isn't the idiots who turn in front of them. It's always the helmet's fault with very little, if any, ramifications against the drivers. Give me a freaking break.

After all, you would be much safer wearing a helmet in your car. And, how many of you do?

Anyone who deosn't wear a helmet on a bike is an imbecile and insurance companies should be absolved of responsibility for injuries incurred by said imbeciles...

Wearing a helmet should be an individuals choice, not mandated by some stupid azz law. All the outrage over not wearing a helmet, not wearing a helmet did not cause the accident - getting cut off did.

I couldn't agree more about helmets, but regardless of who's at fault, "mister I'm a high paid college graduate and should be smart enough to realize that unlike the playing field, I have absolutely no control over the other guy" is the loser. Everyone that climbs on a motorcycle should realize that when a 200#(plus in this case)person and a 600# bike make contact with a 4000# auto, their going to lose.

Having said that, if he'd of been wearing a helmet, for all we know he may have broken his neck and really been screwed.

Oh, that makes it better. I guess the imbecile who turned in front of him shouldn't feel bad now.

"In May 2005, Steelers coach Bill Cowher lectured Roethlisberger on the dangers of riding without a helmet."

"He talked about being a risk-taker and I'm not really a risk-taker. I'm pretty conservative and laid back, but the big thing is to just be careful," Roethlisberger said at the time. "I'll just continue to be careful. I told him we don't ever ride alone, we always ride in a group of people, and I think it makes it even more safe."

Not trying to stir it up just quoted a part from the article. As boring as it is....I don't ride so I won't comment.

I don't wear a helmet, but I do wear a cup. My pecker is much more important than my main brain.

The helmet vs. no-helmet debate ain't going to be won by either side. Is it stupid or is it personal freedom? It could very well be stupid personal freedom.

I am also going to back off of this until I hear the whole story. Maybe he was hauling azz and it wasn't her fault. (That is a possibility on a Busa) My whole problem to start with is that whenever there is a bike wreck, the news, bless their hearts, always report about the "no helmet" part even if it had nothing to do with the accident/injuries.

If you could see the "minimums" that a helmet must go through to get DOT certified you'd realize that helmet = open casket, no helmet = closed casket.

Off my soapbox. Waiting to hear the whole story. Think she ought to be prosecuted if it was her fault.
