You have 1600 stores. You're $5,000,000,000 in debt. That's over $3,000,000 of debt per store.

... I have to ask, how the heck does that happen? And who let's it get that far?

The best part is they think that if they can borrow more it'll fix it?

Duh.

Bankruptcy isn't always a bad thing for publicly traded companies. I wouldn't assume it's accidental. Look at the airline industry.

Yeah... except you can say, "No" to Toys-R-Us. You can't say "No" to the freeloaders.

But I agree... I am curious how that works. I mean, after the first Billion, do you wait? Then after the second Billion you think... Meh... it'll be ok. Then the third? LOL. I'm a small business... and it makes no sense. Who lends the money? What's the upside? I don't care how much their leases might be worth, etc. You're not getting to $5 Billion.

The guy who sold the banks on making excessive loans must be one smooth talker.

Even your in-laws will not loan you that kind of money.
Sooo we go to the dumbest bunch out there. The citizens and their high paid representatives in Washington DC, you know up north; which the last time I checked was also broke, but was still acting like they had money with which to buy votes.
Instead of closing the doors and letting the creditors exact vengence on the top folk, they will run to the gubernmunt, and remain life time members of the "Old CEO Club".

Tarring and feathers went out of favor much too soon.

If you owe the bank a million, the bank owns you. If you owe the bank a billion, you own the bank.

Not publicly traded... and even if it was, I don't see it.

I guess the Millennials are NOT spoiling their kids with every toy they scream about! I, personally see this as a positive. F that damn giraffe, Jeffery!!!!! Let them fail.

Sears and JC Penney were staples to our parents. They are hanging on by a thread, but life continues on just fine. Same will happen w Toys R' Us.

I've shopped in toys r us exactly 3 times for my kids when I didn't know what to get them for Xmas or bday or whatever. All 3 times I ordered the item I found that I liked from Amazon, from my phone, while in the store. For a lot cheaper. At my door 2 days later. Seriously, unless it's for a bday the next day, why purchase in the store? It's not like it's a local mom and pop you want to support.

KKR & Co LP
Bain Capital LP (Mitt Romney)
Vornado Realty Trust

Private equity made out like legal bank robbers. The American public is too disinterested or too stupid to stop it. Enjoy the carcass.

He also donated tons to democrats, supported gun control, supported government healthcare, said Hilary was a great woman and doing a great job, hosted abortion fundraisers, is married to a soft porn star, etc. He's a textbook liberal with no morals, only flip flopped to see who was stupid enough to vote for him.
