Default Ford Edge: V-6 Fuelly or 2.0 Turbo

Anybody have any experience with the Ford Edge. Good ratings all around and decent size and price but which engine is better the V-6 FI or the 2.0 Turbo. Any real life experience?

I would think the V6 if your going to tow or haul stuff & the 2.0 for around town & commuting for fuel economy.

Wife has the turbo and other than a tiny fuel tank we like it. I wouldn't tow shit with it.

C'mon MODS, this is not a truck or trailer. Put the tread back where mainstream folks read.

Wife also has a 2011 Limited that she loves. Approaching 140K miles, oil & filter, tires, brakes and a battery as expected. Only non-maintenance items are PCV valve (oil usage) & shifter assy (did not recognize it was in park, $300). 3.5L V6, 24 lifetime fuel economy. Not much torque down low so need to spin the motor if you want to scoot. She does not notice. I have the 2.0L turbo in a Focus ST. Tons of torque, more after the Ford racing "tune-up". 1st & 2nd gear in the 6 spd manual traction limited for sure. I would drive both engines & go with what you like. The admiral will get another one when done with this one.

Having driven both- get the V6, the Turbo 4 has no fuel savings and is really maxed out with the Edge.

I have an Escape 4WD with the 2 liter ecoboost and tow package with 3500# rating. It is not my main tow vehicle but I have towed with it. It far exceeds my expectation while towing, and the turbo is a joy to run in all driving situations with good mpg. I expect the Edge would give identical performance. I highly recommend!

Throw the 2.7 ecoboost in the mix.

With a tune it's fun.

Not an Edge, but My wife has a 2017 Explorer Limited with the 2.3L Ecoboost. We picked this engine because it is supposed to get better mpg than the 3.5L V6. Almost 5k miles so far, and the gas mileage pretty much sucks. But it does have plenty of pickup, and seemed to perform better than the V6 during our test drive. All things considered, I would probably get the V6 if I was to do it again.

I have no idea if it is the same motor or not .. but the V6 in the wife's Ford Flex is down right impressive.

Have a 2016 Explorer Sport which has the 3.5-liter EcoBoost V-6. Not sure on the mileage but fun to drive for a SUV

Have been thinking about an Edge Sport since I like the Explorer so much

2016 Edge with the v6. Nice ride, no issues, lots of power. I have not tracked the mileage. Don't really care.

The V6/is in my Explorer and it is pushing 300 horsepower. And it is standard--no extra cost.

Ford has good 4 cylinder turbo motors, but the fuel mileage is sub par. I think all their engineering budgets have gone into their two V6 truck turbos.

I own a 2016 Edge with the V6. When we test drove the 4 cylinder I could not get past the turbo lag. The thing would hesitate for a bit too long before it took off. I guess you would get used to it but I was more comfortable with the instant response of the V6.
