Default Why are summertime colds so brutal?

Seems like the last 5 years Ive been getting a cold in the summer and they have been just horrible. I know the virus that causes the cold survives better in cool dry air so thats why they are more common in the winter. Makes me wonder if the strain that I seem to get every summer is somehow stronger.
Im on day 3 and literally just getting a little work done and sleeping as much as possible. No cold remedy helps. Started with a 101 fever thats down to about 99.5 now. You know its bad when your hair hurts

Never had a summer cold. Never heard of one. You sure it's not severe seasonal allergies that went on to become a legit sinus infection?

No its a cold. Sinus drainage is clear. Started with a sore throat. I have only ever had one sinus infection in my life and theres no mistaking that for a cold. I dont know what that was coming out of my nose but it was not normal LOL.

the first major spike in colds are 2 weeks after school starts. We are almost there.
Keep hydrated and get plenty of rest

I kind of feel like my fever broke. I swear my hair and gums hurt earlier.

I have never found any medicine that helps. Ill use that Afrin nasal spray here and there just to get a break from the congestion.

Im actually sleeping in my office on the opposite side of the house from our bedroom. Only thing worse than being sick is suffering my wifes wrath if she gets it after me.

Give NeilMed Sinus Rinse a try.
I had a sinus infection earlier this summer, and knocked it out using that stuff in the shower twice a day, in about 4 days. Had some good antibiotics too.

Put that Afrin away. It's for occasional use only.

I use XLEAR just using the Afrin on occasion as I stated.

Try Benadryl (sp) it is the only thing that helps me when my sinuses are full of "stuff". It will make me fall to sleep. So I take it at night or when I know that I have time for a nap if I need it during the day. Good luck, hope the worst is over.

Feeling a little better today. Actually woke up unplugged but soon after it started again. Supposed to fish offshore Sunday so fingers crossed.
