Default NO Politics, Insults, Religious or Sexually Explicit Posts
THT and the Mods have decided that it is time to clarify and restate in one post the following

1. No Politics outside of the Bilge . . . If you might see it on the front page of a mainstream newspaper and it does not mention a given party, it is probably OK. Ideally, threads and posts should concern legislation about boating, fishing or trailering boats, and then you are not to insult anyone. If, in the judgement of a moderator, something is too far to the right or left, it may be deleted or sent to the Bilge. If it mentions names like Bush or Obama, it will be a prime candidate for deletion.

2. No Insults outside of the Bilge . . . no exceptions . . . don't try to get funny with inuendos or different spelling . . . no insults period.

3. No Religion outside of the Bilge . . . many threads start out innocently but they almost always end up with insults and people being disrespectful of other people's religions and personal beliefs.

4. No Explicitly Sexual Topics Outside of the Sand Bar . . . all of the other forums are to be treated as 'family content only'.

Threads that break these guidelines will either be deleted or the offending posts may be deleted or the threads will be sent to the Bilge.

Repeat offenders will be contacted by the Mods and the problem discussed . . . our preference is that the poster respects the guidelines . . . but if the problem continues our only option will be to ban (for a couple of weeks or longer) the repetitive offender

PLEASE RESPECT THESE GUIDELINES

I think THT is taking on water. Multiple current threads on Dockside Chat have bilge-rats, scum and some unknown slippery substances oozing up through the cracks.

You're pointing at the safety placard when it's actually time to man the pumps.

I just don't look forward to this when I get home from a day's work anymore.

Thank you for placing a comma between "Bilge rats" and "scum"!

Everybody needs to just get along, IMO...

I'm quite aware of that, I had the misfortune of stumbling into all three of the threads. I put up a home-made lure pic on the third one but ended up deleting it when the thread went sour. Then I had the misfortune of opening the "soldier sends letter to NFL" thread only to find that it's a quagmire also.

I make home-made lures and I'm a proud veteran so like everyone certain threads catch my eye. It just hasn't been a great week for dockside reading [for me].

You're welcome. I take no exception to bilge rats and although I choose not to spend much time in the bilge I do enjoy the sense of humor down there.

There was a noticeable quantity of scum awash.

I liked your lures. Hi-speed trollers. I bought a very similar set, but have never had anything hit them, mostly because we don't have wahoo in any quantity in the Cortez. Have lost an occasional lure to them over the years that they've bit off, but that's the exception, not the rule. You can target them for days on end and not catch one. Got to tangle with some nice, big hoo earlier this year in the Gulf and certainly wished we had more of them in my stomping grounds! Made some excellent sushi and sashimi!

Over many years when I had problems with boats, motors, different types of hulls, rigs gigs and fishing tricks. What ever it was you great people at THT have always helped me. I've only been a member for the last few years but have been reading THT off of google searches since 2004
Recently I have been more active than normal and started a few threads that went south
And I apologize if I've started a thread that ended in disaster. There are lots of awesome people
Here on THT. And I would hate to see the awesome peeps get pushed out becaus of a few idiots
