A few other threads alluded to this question.

Asked my buddy in the thick of it in League City. His suggestion was the JJ Watts fund, hands down. He said his neighborhood kicked the Red Cross out of their local shelters because they couldn't get things done fast enough due to the bureaucracy of the organization. I trust his word for the fund.

JJ Watts has a fund that is now over $5 million and is supposed to help Houston flood victims exclusively.

Don't get pulled into the countless scams that are out there.......some even closer than you think.

The only thing I'll do for the Red Cross is donate blood, and I read this morning where there's a dire need right now in eastern Texas.

Mercury One has teamed with some other great organizations to help victims and responders in the wake of Hurricane Harvey. https://www.mercuryone.org/

Operation BBQ feeds victims and rescuers. After the Joplin tornado they served 120,000 meals to victims and responders over 13 days https://operationbbqrelief.org/

Team Rubicon has also deployed. https://teamrubiconusa.org/

Convoy For Hope is also onsite, https://www.convoyofhope.org/

The Lone Star Navy and Cajun Navy are also doing some great work. Some great examples of neighbor's helping neighbors. They seem to be using Facebook to coordinate efforts.

My donations (so far) have been to the Salvation Army and Baptist Men's Ministry (my deceased father was a member and I have seen the disaster help they provide).

But I am not telling anyone to whom they should donate.

A friend worked with them when a tornado hit his city; Enterprise, AL. Solid folks that had little tolerance for those sitting on the porch waiting for a handout.
