Default New AC yesterday already issues!

The 20 Y/O Trane needed a new inside coil.I wasn't going to throw 1k into the old unit.So I decided to install a new unit. Didn't want fancy ,just single speed that works.
Called one of my customers to give back some money I had made from him.
Carrier 16 seer 4 ton $3800 .
At the house at 6:30am .
Pulls box off unit 2 sides say Carrier
2 sides say Bryant.
Pull off the labels you don't want.
Owner and 2 techs .Owner stays for the removal and setting of new unit then leaves 2 techs to do hook up.
I watched the install they never vacuumed
System .
Owner coming back out tomorrow after I reminded him it's not paid for yet ,I know where he lives, and I put the locks in his shop, as it won't cool past 76 .

He also sounds like a customer that is informed. Pulling a deep vacuum on the system is very important. Did they use nitrogen when they brazed it? If not the inside of that pipe will oxidize and float little pieces of copper around your system until it clogs up the expansion valve. Carrier and Bryant air handlers are exactly the same so now worries with the labels. They even use the same model numbers. The condensing unit (outdoor section) is different on the Carriers and Bryants.
They need to remove the refrigerant, pull a vacuum and recharge with fresh Puron.
Good luck.

Sounds like an old gum shoe talking on a phone setting up a meeting in an alley.... the hit is going down.

If it were my AC, one that I was going to have to live with for the next umpteen years and I knew enough to know that they were taking short cuts that would effectively limit the life of the system I would have said something.

Once the guys doing the install realized this customer knew enough to know there's a right and wrong way to do it they likely would have done so and you would have likely protected you and your new asset.

Happy days.

But...... you come across here as someone who has no issues speaking your mind or swinging your weight around, so I don't understand why you didn't hall them up and tell it to em straight?

Sounds to me like you preferred to grab an opportunity for a little leverage on the owner of the company on those $$$ bills your holding back or, and as you say - giving back.
