Default Where's Bill Gates???

and all the rest of these billionaires??? Houston's folks need tons of relief. Why don't these big guys stand up and put a couple billions toward the rebuild effort. Maybe no headliners for them so they're no-shows.

It's a perfect opportunity for Soros to contribute. He's supposed to be big on donating. Maybe his son will if he won't.

They say they will give away their fortunes before they die, frankly I don't understand why they feel the need to give away family fortunes however it is their money

This would be an opportune time to drop a billion or so for charity in that area, If I were in their shoes and wanted to do this

I am sure lot of folks sitting back to see what real needs are before just scratching a check though

I'm betting people like that will do a whole lot and you will never hear of it. That's the way they work.

The billionaires of our country tend to put their money into helping other less fortunate countries and figure that the little people here will look after each other and they are correct. It is their money and they can do as they please, at least we have the religious community to step up and do far more than just give lip service. If you are God fearing or not, Samaritans Purse is one of the most helpful I have ever been around, and they were very well represented here in Alabama after the F5 tornadoes, but any donation to them or any of the many out there that step up is a donation well appreciated.

I'm betting they wont. Many of them are so focused on changing the world that our little slice of the pie is not important. It will be interesting to see what the facebook guy does since he is rumored to want to run for pres.

The Gates Foundation has a United States program: https://www.gatesfoundation.org/Who-...tion-Factsheet

As for others, the water is still rising. How do you know who has and has not given? Many of them donate directly to relief orgs like Red Cross.

One thing for sure, as a group billionaires have never given more than they do today.

I can guarantee you these guys are donating behind the scenes. They don't need headlines about it to be validated.

For them, it's a tax write-off and a way to limit their realized income.

And the war on the successful and wealthy continues...

Churches, especially those like Joel's, are the very definition of a tax loophole.

Does anyone really think that Gates and others like him give two chits about middle class folks in the good old US of A trying to get by when a tragic catastrophe happens to them?

They would prefer to donate to try and help foreign countries. However Gates and others like him are not smart enough to realize that most of what they donate ends up in the pockets of the rulers in charge of those countries with very little trickling down to the population of those countries.
