People have died from heart attacks from drinking those energy drinks. Several documented cases. I don't even drink coffee in the morning if I'm going to see the Dr. because it screws with my blood pressure.

If a single energy drink spikes yuor BP to 200 yuo have bigger problems my friend.

Most have around the same caffeine as a large cup of coffee.

I started BP meds about ten years ago. The first thing my doctor told me was to stay away from Red Bull.

I developed a taste for the no carb/sugar Monster. I really liked the taste of the stuff but I also hoped it would give me more energy during the day. About the only thing they physically did for me was keep me awake when driving. When I would get sleepy and hit the rumble strips a couple of times I would stop and get a Monster.

My wife had an emergency appendectomy and the doctor asked if she had consumed an energy drink in the past 6 hours. She never drinks them since she is a coffee freak and drinks it all day long. I asked the doctor why he asked the question and he said it can complicate the anesthetic. I asked him if there was anything bad about energy drinks in general and he said they raise your heart rate and your BP and right now nobody knows what other harm they could be doing to the human body. He mentioned that one of the main ingredients is Taurine which in itself isn't bad but consuming a large quantity of it in an energy drink could have adverse affects.

The doctor said they have never saw a patient come into the hospital from consuming an energy drink so in her opinion they are fine unless you have heart problems and/or very high blood pressure. People should limit themselves to 2-3 a day and wait a couple of hours after drinking one to drink another.

The doctors opinion sounds very reasonable to me but I quit drinking them daily and now may drink a couple a week. If anyone has any other information on these energy drinks I would like to hear what you know.

that stuff kills people. I'm not gonna lie, I drink red bull sometimes, very rare when I need for driving...

It really surprises me when I see guys working in the outdoor under the sun and drinking energy drinks on a daily basis.

Out in west texas oil fields, most companies will kick you out if they find an energy drink can on your truck, no questions asked.

I remember when Red Bull first came out. They had a little car with what looked like a Red Bull can sticking out of the trunk and had insulated it. It pulled into a local garage and was offering us Red Bull. Apparently their job for a year or so was simply to drive around giving out Red Bull.

I drank one an within just a few minutes I was like bird trying to get out of a garage. My heart was pounding and not sure what my BP was but I know I was high. Haven't had one since.

A popular party drink is Monster and Yaegermeister. Never tried it but I've seen people get sloppy on it
but the problem is that they just don't pass out. They can go all night.

Yaeger Bombs. Drop a shot of Yaeger into a glass of Red Bull or Monster. Been awhile since I tried it but do remember getting a drunk buzz along with a "go all night" euphoric feeling. The next morning was painful.

This thread reminded me of this.....I was the driver to a church bowling tournament and I had 2 guys from our church in the truck with me. We spent the night and left for home in the morning after bowling. I was really sleepy because I don't sleep good at hotels. I was dozing off driving so I told the guys I had to stop and get something to drink to wake me up. We stopped at a gas station and they came in with me, I grabbed a Monster and they both asked me what it was. I told them it was an energy drink, they had never heard of an energy drink but they both decided to get one.

We get back on the road and about 40 minutes later I noticed that they were both talking really fast and not a second of peace because they were talking so much. They would say something to me but before I could even get a complete answer out they were on to the next topic. OMG they were talking so fast it was hard to understand what they were even saying but they had no problem understanding each other.

The energy drinks hit the old guys hard and they couldn't shut up! I laughed pretty much all the way home.

I drink a large coffee every morning and for awhile was drinking 2 Monster sugar free every day(white can is my favorite), they always sell them 2 for $$. After awhile I quit getting the energy effect and felt like I needed one just to feel normal. Then I started getting cramps easily and often. I've cut out the Monsters for the past month and went back to a 3:00 coffee and the cramping seems to have mostly gone. Not 100% sure the cramping is related but seems to be. Plus $4.00 a day for Monsters add up at the end of the month.

not sure why you would drink one before going to the Dr.

that would be like taking viagra before you get a massage or something

In my late 20's and 30's My go to pick me up drink around 11pm was a vodka red bull. One or two kept me going till the bars closed at 2am.

Memorial Day about a decade ago I started out of the gate with vodka red bull before noon. 14 hours later I had downed an easy dozen plus. Trying to fall asleep that night I felt like I was going to die.

That was the last time I had an energy drink. I don't do coffee so several glasses of unsweetened iced tea is now my drug of choice.

I've never had one and I wouldn't start. I just don't trust them.

Can I have another cup of coffee please?

Have had them before years ago whilst working nights. The Monster drinks have a few natural things in them that aren't terribly bad for you however the niacin in them made my face red and felt extra hot.
