Buy a new one and then sue in small claims court and add in all your lost time, etc. With the repair receipts it should be a slam dunk.

My 2 suggestions: 1)Have you also tried it w/out the filter?
2) How is the water line hooked up to your house water? Is it one of those crappy "wet tap" things? If so, maybe it's restricted and needs to be disassembled and checked for debris.
Surprised you got nowhere w/Home Depot. Maybe you're not yelling loud enough. My BIL bought a new Samsung from them many yrs. ago and he was a total PIA about "being able to hear it running." They replaced it twice and each was just as noisy or worse than the original.

This is what I'm thinking about doing. Because I'm getting to the point where I don't even want the thing. All the times we left work 4 hours early just to be home for the technician will add up to a nice lawsuit. For the record I've never sued anyone in my life so this isn't something I ever even really think about.

I'm going through the same thing with a Fridgidair about as old as yours with the top one making ice and the bottom one not. It cost me $50 for someone to tell me it's about $400 for new icemaker and watervalve. No thanks. When the top one quits I will buy a portable icemaker for $80.

Did you call the store manger directly? I had the same issue with a fig we purchased from Sears. They came out 4 or 5 times and the frig was never fixed after 6 weeks of problems. Like you we had lots of time tied up into long phone calls and waiting around for the repairman. I finally lost my cool and went straight to the store manager (sears). He allowed me to come pick out a new frig and refunded me the difference in cost, They swapped them out. About a month latter it goes down and after about 3 weeks into dealing with them I lost my cool again. The store mgr agreed to refund me my money and to pick up the frig. They never showed up to get the frig. I called GE directly and they had it fixed the next day under warranty and we still have the frig. I'm still waiting for Sears to pick it up because I cashed the refund check.

Sounds like this might be worth a shot, thank you.

The crazy part about all this is that I'm a mechanic for a living so I completely understand that you dont always fix something the first time every time. So I have patience with this type of sh!t. But this is unreal.

This is French door with ice compartment in ref? There is a new update for fan and drain on ice maker evap in ref. Fourth kit they have come out with I think. I hate getting service calls on these pos. Even factory tech line does not know how to fix them.
I read on repair clinic that Electrolux head engineer had one in his home and could not keep it working. It's on internet so it has to be true, right?

Yes its the French door type and we had the fan/drain/evap replaced. That was the first thing they did. Not sure if its the latest version or not.

Does it have ice in it that's not cycling out, or is it dry?

Built a new house 4 years ago and purchased the " appliance package" from Lowes. All appliances are Fridgidaire, fridge, dishwasher, microwave and stove. The fridge "was" a freezer on the bottom model. It made it almost 6 months before it stopped working. Called Lowes and because we didnt have the extended warranty we were on our own. (6 months guys), so we had a professional come and replace a circuit board. 2 months later we are having similar problems and this time its the fan that pumps the cold air up to the top of the fridge from the freezer. The old style units had the freezer on top and cold air fell where it was needed which worked. Anyway, the third time it died the repair guy said that it was a POS, no kidding really? By now I,m pissed and have talked to Fridgeaire in almost every state in the union as they kept transferring me to someone else. After that run around I went back to Lowes and spoke to the manager, got the same runaround as before. This was a $1200 unit and not some low grade cheap machine. When the manager told me that there was nothing that he could do I told him that I was going to put that POS in the back of my truck and park it across the street with a big sign saying to not buy appliances from Lowes as they dont stand behind their products. I wasnt kidding and I think that he got the message. Lowes then credited me back the money spent on the unit along with the installation fee and then through in a 2 year warranty. Would I buy appliances from them again? NO but they did make it right.

As for the other appliances, the racks in the dishwasher are 30% gone, rusted away. A fricken dishwasher that rusts after 4 years. Do your homework before you buy any appliances. The Interweb is your friend. Next time I will go to the local appliance store, they stand behind what they sell.

Sad but true. I am dealing with a frigidaire French Door that will be receiving it's second fan, second motherboard, and third display! Have the extended 3 yr Lowe's Warranty and going to get a different one.. Probably Samsung w ext warranty. What pissed me off the most is the water dispenser does not dispense cold water! Go back to 1960 and add ice to your cup.. Wake up everyone because you need ice.. And yes the ice container cracked due to a ice-auger vs ice-cube battle.. Pos fridge!

There are a couple things that could be a fault when it's dry. The water solenoid, the optics, or the fill tube could be frozen shut.

A couple easy things to try.

Unplug the fridge for a while to reset the circuit boards.

Take a q-tip and wipe off the emitter and sensor lenses. They are the little holes on the switch plate and the opposite emitter plate.

I bought an Electrolux 5 years ago and when through the same issues. Finally went out of warranty. I keep a bag of ice in the freezer and will never buy another Electrolux/Frigidaire product. I believe my model had a class action lawsuit.

Fridgadare does not have emmiter optics like whirlpool.
Samsung French doors are as bad if not worse than fridgadare.

You probably have an ice build up behind auger and fan motors blocking fan. Remove ice bucket an defrost with hair dryer. It will work til it ices up again.

Interesting. I had to buy a new fridge two years ago when my old one died on xmas day. I also chose a frigidaire SS because the reviews were better than the rest.

I have the opposite ice issue. I trying to just get a half glass of ice and it comes out of there like a damn glacier collapse. Spend a lot of time picking them off the floor.

Out side of that it gets an ice build up at the corner of the top crisper drawer and isn't very quiet. It was quiet for about a week now sounds like a possessed chipmunk is in it at times.

Welcome to the world of Chinese appliances. I cling to my old washer and dryer like grim death!

Meanwhile the 25yo kenmore in the garage has never had a single issue

This sounds the most logical.

Noticed this too
