Default If someone made agressive verbal assaults at you and your boat at marina,

so that you felt threatened , what would you do?

For some reason these two 20 somethings started in on me while I was working on the boat in the slip. Reminded me of high school bullying, and I have no idea who they were, never met them before. But these people are adults.
Made nasty comments about the name of the boat, the tools I was using, what I was doing, started saying they wanted to borrow my stuff. I was replacing the fuel fills. Wife says I should mention this to the marina management The name of the boat is 'Not Guilty'. and is at Thomas Marina in Seaford Va.
I don't know who they were, friends of the boat owner, who knows. The boat is in a slip a few slips away from me. It was like they were sporting with me, acting like jerks, but maybe they are also criminals. They brought the boat in very hot and aggressive like when they docked.

talk to the marina management and also you could consult the local LEO. They usually have a non emergency number for things like this to get information. It can then be passed on to someone to contact you for more details. You can also get them to do wellness checks on your boat just incase if you fell that uncomfortable.

I would walk down the dock with a gaff and accidentally snag them in the gut.

Making comments about your tools?

Were these street toughs calling themselves "Jets" by any chance?

Comfort in those kind of situations is knowing that you carry. If you don't because you think others will take care of you, are you now re-thinking what the term, "self-preservation", means?

We can't know who will confront us next; we just try to be ready for if they do and things get ugly.

No they came in on a very nice looking boat. Seen another boats there aggressively docked at high speeds. I know the type, they are high strung, highly opinionated of themselves and their stuff, they remind me of criminal party types, girls, drugs, money, high powered boats and trucks, like you see on CSI Miami.

The other boat, the owner powered off really fast from the slip forgetting to untie from a piling and he broke it right off. I wonder if he told the marina. These two boats they know each other, birds of a feather flock together. I had thought this marina was a family friendly place, but I am wondering now. Wife is concerned about our family interacting with these people after what happened today. The other guys on the other boat, all they do is talk about sex, sharing the same girls one after the other and want to know If I know 'hot older woman' they can have sex with. I am 58. People like that I just want nothing to do with.

Been in LE almost 30 years ( in a large municipal department for the majority of it). What exactly is aggressive verbal assaults ????because what you describe is NO WHERE CLOSE to anything criminal in Florida. Nasty comments about your boat and tools and what you were doing? Tell them your busy and don't have time for their non sense, simple and ignore them, they will go away..

Hate to say it OP but i agree with cracker here.

Just ignore them.

Agree it's annoying but doesn't strike me as anything more than just that, an annoyance.

Yes, I told that to my wife, cause verbal assaults and aggressive behavior is nothing until it gets physical with you or your property. Telling the management, I don't know how that helps, except that they will know I complained about the behavior of either a boat owner or his guests. But maybe these guys will abuse others too.
She also worries they will damage our boat. No witnesses, then can't prove much unless it gets to a serious physical assault.
I asked them if they were drunk.

Liquid ass their door handles and anything else they will grab. Also find a bait stand with crickets for sale. Buy 1000 of them and accidentally spill on the cockpit of their boat when they aint looking

It's hard to beat seaford, it's a great community. There are tool bags everywhere. Was it a weekend? Probably been to the duck blind where all the kids hang out and drink. I will say YCSO is very responsive to the citizens if you need them

I'd ignore them. The World is full of idiots unfortunately and this was probably a one off incident. If something similar happens again, that would be a different story.

Maybe time to start cleaning your carry weapon? It probably needs it anyway, just an oily rag and rack the slide a few times. No words needed.
