V1 is great... but I get a lot of false alarms....

I run with a group exotic car guys and we all have a mixture of the high end products..

We all get alerted around the same time...

My buddy is a Stanford engineer researches these things ad nauseam .. runs the top of the line Escort

If I had to guess based on his research its probably the best ....

9500ix. I love the gps lock out. The valentine has better detection distances (in the wife's 911), but would need the app to allow gps lock out for false alarms.

If she's getting hit by radar, both detectors are useless. I have a pair of Laser Interceptors on my front grill. They have saved me thousands!!!

This. Your concern should not be with her getting a ticket. It should be with her hurting someone, including herself. The solution isn't in an electronic device, its in teaching her how to drive.

Just how fast do you guys run on a regular basis? I was heading to the shore last weekend, traffic was heavy but moving a steady 75-80 mph. We all past a trooper on the parkway and he was as normal IMO, a regular guy just looking for A-hole drivers tailgating or driving erratically. Looked in my rearview and he never moved, just sat there.

If we can do 80 and not get a rise out of the PD, how fast are you going?

15 - 19 over where reasonable. I.e. 4 lane highway, non congested interstate.

V1 or whatever the newest high end escort product is would be my recommendation. I will be switching to a V1 if when my older escort starts lagging. Also need to research how radar works to get the most out of a detector: instant on/constant on, the different bands, etc. if you're the only car on the rd and meet a trooper running instant on you're toast. If you've got a rabbit you should be able to pick up an alert when they hit the car ahead of you with a good detector. All detectors are useless against laser - they *may alert you once you've been hit with Lidar but it's too late. Some decent laser jammers on the market since Lidar isn't FCC regulated and therefore legal to jam. But the technology is constantly evolving and it ain't cheap to get good protection.

80's & low 90's on very open highways ... and maybe 15 over on nice back roads....

Its not that fast - but cops love pulling over 911 Turbos

I save the really fast stuff for the track ... I value my life and the lives of others

My wife has a lead foot, and has had a Escort Passport 8500 since around 2007 - one ticket, ever. I've got the Escort Passport 9500ix in my GMC 3500, and the new Escort Passport MAX 360 in my F350...I prefer the 9500ix over the others hands down. The new MAX 360 is too big IMO.

9500ix, I have had both v1 and 9500 ix, the gps lock out is awesome. My v1 used to buzz so much that I always ignored it. You won't get constant buzzing due to false alarms on the 9500ix

I have a 9500ix and used to be great, but now it is about as useless as a bump on a pickle. Unfortunately so many cars now have blind spot monitors, collision avoidance sensors, lane departure sensors, adaptive cruise control, and all kinds of other crap, and it looks like the majority use the same (or very similar) frequencies to the ones used by the police radars. I don't know about your neck of the woods, but in Massachusetts my radar is rendered completely useless due to all the false alarms. Not to mention the fact that the majority of the State Troopers now use LIDAR.

Waze App can help also. Shows where cops are at and gives you a warning. Works very well in populated/heavy traffic areas.

Thanks for the replies. I did tell her to slow down but got every excuse in the book and a bunch of crap. Just trying to save myself some money.
