Default 6 feet under or cremation

Yeah, a morbid topic but we will all face our Maker one day.

Since the Catholic Church acknowledged cremation several years ago we decided to go that route.

No casket, no cemetery plot, no vault, no headstone. Total waste of money in our opinion.

Have you decided on what you will do and if so what is it?

Cremation. Spread along with Shag's ashes (he's still on my closet shelf 15 years later) on the Cape Lookout shoals. Foot stone in the family plot just for chits and giggles.

What on earth would you make the younger generations pay for a burial for?

It's weird what people will spend thousands on to avoid upsetting their imaginary friend in th sky.

Doesn't matter what you specify, common law does not honor the wishes of the deceased. When you are dead you have no rights concerning the disposal of your mortal remains regardless of your will. That decision is entirely up to the executor of your estate be it family, friends, or the state.

Friends parent was supposed to be cremated and buried at sea as per the will but she stopped it and kept the ashes for about a year before scattering them in the air one windy day.

Currently my plan is to wait until I feel like my days are numbered, then sail from my island place out into the sea, douse the boat in fuel, set it on fire and shoot myself and let my body go down with the boat.

I come from a very long-lived family; my grandmother is 100 and still lives by herself about 20 miles from the closest town. My dad is 75 and still hunting mountain goats and climbing in the Rockies. Lots of people on both sides of my family live past 100 and almost everyone who makes it to 30 without becoming a POW somewhere lives to at least 90, generally in fairly good shape. But the decline tends to be very rapid at the, which is fine with me. My wife's family isn't as long-lived as mine, so I'll probably outlive her, and I don't want my kids stuck dealing with me as an invalid.

I hope to build a good wooden sailing skiff in my 80s, and die on it with a 1911 in my hand in my 90s if at all possible. The sea won't mind another sailor that never leaves, and I do not come from a sentimental breed. I'm sure my children will understand, and most likely relate to, the method.

Suppose you could always donate your body to medical science.

I know two people who have done that recently.

Damn, that's hardcore. I like the idea of dying WITH a 1911 in my hand, just not BY a 1911 with my own trigger pull.

Cremated. Thought about donating body parts but pretty sure they are about wore out. Milwaukee can have my stomach if they run outta beer tho.

I'm asking that ashes be mixed in with some quikrete and tossed into lake erie so I can create a little bit of structure!

$1000.00 Cremation quickly.
Don't drag it out.
Have people back at the house if you want and tell them to bring a covered dish because I won't be there to cook for them.

Keep it simple.
