Default MIL Needs Info - West Palm Beach

My M.I.L. is moving and the Penske truck she rented isn't big enough to hold all her things. So, she's going to rent a trailer and pull it behind her Lexus RX350. Does anyone know where in the West Palm Beach area she can go to get a draw hitch installed on her Lexus. U-Haul quoted $475 and that's outrageous to me. Any help is appreciated.

I agree with you that sounds outrageous, but the hitch looks like it is +/- $150. Figure $100-125 for labor on the high side? Actually I looked at the PDF on u-hauls site, they estimate 35 mins for pro installation or 70 mins DIY.

So now you're at $250-300.

However, does her lexus have power hookups? Now you're looking at another $50-75 plus labor. God help you if they screw up the wiring.

Finding the hitch could be a real challenge, but if U-haul will sell it to her uninstalled then any mom and pop mechanic should be able to do it.

Again.. wiring could be a bigger issue all around. I'd find out if Lexus sells a plug in wiring harness, or maybe even the hitch.

Wouldn't it be easier to tow the trailer behind the moving truck? Or is that not an option? Or throw away $750 worth of stuff?

The Hub in Mangonia Park can probably do the work. There is also a place in Jupiter (Jupiter Trailer, I think).

$475 is not outrageous at all for complete setup. Try calling the lexus dealer, 2-3x that

Big rush to go? If not I'd consider sourcing factory Lexus components from an auto recycler.
